  1. I'll take him back in a heartbeat at 30 years old he still has 5 years left, regardless of the logistics something will have to give. Madrid cannot afford for him to sit on the bench but, I don't see how he gets into the team when Mbappe joins especially if Vincius keeps up his current form. Either we sign him on loan next summer or enquire about his availability in January. Personally I don't think he fits the current style of Tuchel but, ironically that could be why we could use him. In theory the only player that would render this system useless were he to play alongside Eden is the player he has he most chemistry with Lukaku. The issue is neither would press effectively, yet were we to play one at time I could see Eden working in a free role alongside two hard workers like Timo/Mason/Kai etc. Either way Rom needs to pick up his pressing game anyway. The reason our attack is struggling is because unlike most world class teams it's not build around one, two or three world class players. Even spending all that money on Rom we don't play to his strengths. At least if Eden came in we would be forced when he does play to at least let him play his game. Some things are better left in the past but, I can't see how with our current lack of creativity right now Eden wouldn't at least offer something, I also wouldn't expect him to play every game. As much as I love the attackers we have now, I can see at least 1 or 2 leaving in the summer to pursue more game time so we will need to replace them either way. Ask yourselves if Eden does leave Madrid would you really want to see him go anywhere other than home? Edit: I wouldn't specifically push for this transfer but, what I'm saying is if he is available can anyone really say no. We're also talking about at a much lower price than we sold for. Just remember the good times
  2. Tbh I still maintain that until we see a fully fit squad we won't know the true potential of this system. For us to truly be able to score goals in a back 3 system we need our best players on the pitch which seems obvious but, it's also about where they are playing also. Personally I don't like when Azpil plays wb I think it defeats the purpose of the way Tuchel first introduced the system. Unless the wingbacks are 2 of Alonso, Chillwell or James I don't want us to ever have 5 dedicated defenders on at the same time. It doesn't matter what team we're playing against I don't want to see it it's too negative. Alonso plus 4 other defenders in a back 3 system means at least one of the 5 defenders will actually be a difference maker in attack same with James and Chillwell. Azpilicueta for all his ability is not an attacking wingback he can attack the box he can make assists and occasionally score goals but, he's not athletic enough at his age to truly cause the kinds of problems we want our wingbacks to cause. He's so much better at rcb where he can do everything he does at wingback anyway. Had Pulisic not been injured we would have seen him in at least two different positions, one of the forwards and at wingback. Now when you have a player with the pace, finishing, creativity and dribbling of Christian in wingback you truly see the way Tuchel wants to play a 3atb. CHO when he's really at it shows this, while he may look better like Christian as a fwd, by playing him at wingback that still allows us to play 4 attacking players at once whilst maintaining 3atb. For this system to work the wingbacks need to get high and wide and we don't always see that when certain players play. Because of the lack of creativity we have in midfield it's essential we play 4 attackers vs the lower table teams who like to park the bus. We have without a doubt in my mind the best squad in the world, reflected by the fact we won the ucl. That doesn't mean we have the best team I'm the world that is a different matter entirely. In fact as things stand we don't even have a best team or starting 11. That's not always a bad thing since it makes us less predictable but, also causes issues for players trying to establish form. Some players need a good string of games to really hit their form or top level, under Tuchel very few players really play every game. Mendy, Rudi at lcb Azpil at rcb, Kante in the pivot, Mount and Reece at wb are the only players I would say that truly deserve to be in the best XI since they are more likely than not the best player in the squad in that specific position. This is regardless vs opposition imo I would start these in their position vs any team in the world. Andreas and Thiago are interchangeable which is fine. Either one through the middle should yield the same result. You don't pay £97m to bench a player so Rom up top. He at the start of the season was scoring effortlessly and once he gets his service expect him to return to business. I'd put Werner next to Mount just behind Rom for the best results in attack. Ben and Marcos are similar to Andreas and Thiago yet Ben is 100% better defensively and is much more athletic so can yet in behind the opposition defence easier. Both are exceptional strikers of the ball and its a toss up vs the opposition which one to start. Jorginho and Kovacic look good together but, between who start alongside Kanté It's a different matter. Kovacic is more likely to attempt to pass forward and Jorginho is better at keeping the side ticking. Again it's Andreas vs Silva either or should provide the same result. Mendy Azpilicueta Christensen Rudiger James Jorghino Kanté Chillwell Werner Mount Lukaku I think this 11 should win the majority of the time. It should provide the right balance in attack and defense with the power of a bench that consists of Ziyech, Havertz, CHO, Ruben, Pulisic, Barley, Trevor, Alonso, etc.
  3. It's not so much the system but, the personnel imo why Rom isn't getting the service he needs. I think Mason Mount is a big part of this, on the one hand we can't play him every game as we need to make sure he doesn't get overloaded. In the same breath he is one of the players so far alongside Kovacic who has worked up a good understanding with Lukaku. Timo is another who seems to slowly but, surely be building chemistry with Rom. Lukaku can do more to make himself available but, make no mistake he isn't getting nearly as many early balls in behind the defense as he should. Its the same issue Timo had last season. It must be so frustrating to want the ball played in early and to not get it consistently. For whatever reason this midfield don't play nearly enough early through balls and it's why we struggle to break teams down. Players like Ziyech, Werner, Kai, Mason, Pulisic and Callum are the ones I expect to unlock Lukaku. It's why people want us to play with an extra attacker because at least then we know we will have more creativity. The current system lacks creativity not because of the formation but, the personnel imo and I will keep saying this until Jorginho, Kovacic, Ruben and whoever else is in midfield learns to pass earlier. Even Alonso and Chillwell can be caught lacking in terms of playing the early ball same with Azpil who will often times choose the side ball instead of the through ball (ofc this isn't always the case). I'm not sure if this is an issue that can be coached or if we need to buy that creative spark who can play the eye of the needle pass I just don't know. Either way to win everything this season we will need to get the attack going because this squad is capable of winning at least 3 trophies this season. A reminder we have already won one.
  4. I'm convinced we just need to play a front 3 with 2 of them dedicated to scoring and creating for the number 9 sounds simple but, at this level of football you need elite difference makers. Right now we're struggling to get the ball to Lukaku. His biggest chances this game came when Timo was involved, he even set Timo up for a goalscoring opportunity. Timo and Rom will work but, they are missing someone that can create multiple chances per game. Since at best they get 1-2 clear cut chances per game in this system on occasion 3 but, rarely more. Regardless of whether you play 352 or 343/3421 you need one more player dedicated to attack to really unlock the obvious top tier quality we have attacking wise in Timo and Rom who are our best attacking options. The 3rd player needs to spot their runs and have the ability to execute the pass. This is the crucial thing. Alongside their own ability to finish chances since Timo and Rom can both create good goalscoring chances for teammates as well as score. It's not to say Timo and Rom should start every game especially together but, realistically these are are two players most likely to influence the scoreline in our favour. On paper this position suits every single one of our attackers/attacking midfielders in the squad. Mason, Kai, Hakim, Ruben, Christian, Callum, Ruben and even Ross. These players should all be capable of sowing the midfield to the attack. Ruben was the choice today and this is the 2nd variation we've seen of of the Timo/Rom attack. Since last time we played Kova, Ngolo and Jorginho. Who are all midfielders that have their own unique skills sets that make them perfect as a duo but, limiting as a trio when we only play two fwds. Those 3 especially struggle to create enough chances when we play with 3 players ahead of them, it only makes sense when there's one less we look even worse creatively. Ideally we want Pulisic, Mount, Ziyech, Callum and Kai specifically in this 3rd position because they will look to create or have that unpredictability which again and again has won us games. Ross and Ruben are more wildcards and whilst Ruben has great dribbling he often lacks the final ball. Ross funny enough actually has a good final ball and I can see him taking advantage of the game time he receives. It will be interesting to see how many different players Thomas tries in this 3rd spot. For me this will be the key for unlocking our attacking talent and potential, its not to same more than 1 or 2 of them shouldn't and won't feature at the same time. However, they are all similar players in what they want to do right now we just need one of them to really step up and provide that spark to the team. In the short term I could really see Mason doing well alongside Timo and Rom a front 3 we are yet to see. I also think a fit Christian Pulisic would be a monster alongside a confident Timo and a Lukaku who would be getting service if not from the majority of the team at least from the other 2 fwds. Closing note I also should point out how important Alonso, James and Chilly are too. Wb is probably the most interesting position in the system since that is the epitome of total football in what they are tasked to do. Sometimes they assist sometimes they score but they always have to defend and try to attack in anyway. Azpil from a more defensive perspective is good here but, at rcb we get all of the perks of what he can do in attack since we know he'll get forward anyway. But, also we get the added security of him in a back 3 and the sdded firepower of at least one more playerinfront of him who is going to be attack minded (James, Callum or Christian).

  6. Special note also to Trevor and Sarr, I worried about Sarr at the start because I'm not fully convinced due to pre season and the cup game. Fair play to him he stepped up both him and Trevor showed how they are always up for a fight.
  7. We have the best goalkeeper in the world. That 2nd half in terms of defence was very good a few mistakes but, overall good job well done. From an attacking perspective worrying, will be hard to win the title like this, 1 shot on in the 2nd half. We only won this because Ben can actually hit the target. Not enough penetration from our midfield. Poor decisions from Kova and I'm a big fan of his but, he doesn't play it quick enough or pick the right pass more often than not. Ruben excellent runs power and pace but, needs to pass sooner. Too often he dribbles and either loses the ball or gets fouled which sometimes can be soft fouls. Timo didn't score but was positive throughout offered himself as an option and popped up in some dangerous areas. Probably should have shot when he tried to lay off for Lukaku but, that's hindsight had the pass gone through that's a goal surely. Lukaku didn't get nearly enough service looked ineffective like the recent narrative of our games, needs the ball sooner released into space. When he did get the ball in the box looked to be lively. Tuchel recognised Kova was ineffective with through balls and was on a yellow and brought on Mason who did his job once he came on. Overall impressive performance from a team perspective especially defensively but, we need to improve in attack they had 17 shots 7 on target we had 5 shots 1 on target. This season will be a slugfest one way or another but, we need to create more chances, quicker through balls, identify the early runs from the fwds. Good job lads good job Tom and the coaches and good job to the away fans who we couldn't always hear sometimes because the Brentford fans were rampant! As were their players because the momentum favoured their team.
  8. Was on holiday with the Mrs and came back today to find a parcel. Hopefully wearing this today will bring good luck 🤞🏿
  9. Let Salah's performance today again be a reminder of just how good a player can become once they hit their prime. Compared to what he was at 21, right now Salah is at least for me the best player in the world on current form. Kai Havertz is 22 we know how good he is right now and he's out of form, we don't know how good he could become once he hits his peak so once again we need to remind ourselves that we bought him for the future and to trust the process. I love Pulisic but, at least Kai has the added benefit of not being unavailable through regular injury with both these players I hope we retain them for a long time.
  10. Werner is like a hybrid of Pedro snd Willian he has the ability to win a game and provide athleticism yet,you would rely on either of those two players to win a championship championship you. He's part of an important puzzle that will bring home the gold. He'll win you games just not every match day, he needs at least 1-2 other top players to share the goalscoring burden with at a top top team at the highest level.
  11. At 6ft 3 people expect a target man but, that's just not him. He can do it, he can play with his back to the goal but, he will always look best how he played vs Arsenal and the other game where he has space to run in behind (Palace I think). Why do we continually buy players that suit a certain playstyle and then tell them to do the opposite ahaha. Jokes aside Lukaku is now the complete striker and for us to get the best out of him, we need to not only use him as a target man. Yet, bouncing the ball of him in the box is the best way our other fwds are going to get chances at scoring goals. I think he likes to lay the ball of in a crowded box for another player to hit first time or take a touch and bury it.
  12. Have to admit if there was ever a game to play a back 4 it would be this though. We now have the midfield to accommodate it. I'm more than happy to play 343 however, Ruben has been a revelation recently and I think a fit Ruben and Mason completely boss this midfield in front of a Kante Jorgehh/Kova pivot. 4231 with Ruben in atk Mason and Timo either side would be interesting. Better yet play 343 with Timo up top ans Mason and Ruben just behind we should dominate midfield with that not to mention Mason and Ruben would look to play Timo in quickly rather than slow the play down.
  13. This lineup could shift to a 442 with James dropping in at rb, Mount dropping into midfield and Werner pushing up alongside Rom. I could see this being the most likely line up the only thing I'm unsure of is the side of the back 3 Trev and Dave play. Curveball would be James rcb, Andreas cb and Trev lcb and he decides to go with Azpil at wb alongside CHO or Ben on the otherwise.
  14. Good chance to see what the future of our defence looks like today lads. Especially if Rudi doesn't sign. We know Andreas will and you can bet Azpil will too. Regardless of whether we sign Koundé this is a realistic look at our defence without the aging Silva and our top performer Toni. Fingers crossed we pass the test, this is a game we could really do with Toni, this attack of Brentford will attack with pace and power, I can see them trying to bully our defence especially when the ball is hung up high. I expect a good contest throughout each department of both teams.
  15. Exactly the 11 I go with, only change I could see is TT plays Trevor centeral and Andreas on the left because they've both played those roles for us before, don't think Trev has started lcb yet. That doesn't mean it won't work but, Tuchel may favour familiarity for this one. Werner has to play no question for me. Brentford play a high line this could be another back and forth game like the previous one vs Southampton even before the red. Mason hasn't started alongside Werner and Lukaku yet and I think this is the perfect opportunity to start what on paper looks like our best front 3 at the moment. Romelu should have recovered, hence why he was rested for the last international game so he could make this game. Regarding my boy Kai, supposedly he's yet to have passed to Lukaku in the league which I seriously doubt even if it is 'Sky's official' stats, I'm sure they've missed a couple. Either way the chemistry isn't fully there yet but, there's plenty of time to build it. He sits on the bench for this one and comes on 60-75min mark for me if we need a spark or someone to close out the win. https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/fan-views/no-way-some-chelsea-fans-stunned-that-one-blues-star-hasnt-passed-to-lukaku-in-the-pl/
  16. What you need to understand is that when you have an injury prone player you don't rush them back. He is a valuable asset. The medics and coaches won't take any chances with Christian. I also think anyone that has given up on him should give him until at least the end of the season before writing him off as a lost cause. 3 seasons of not being fully fit is a different story. As things stand we're still at the early portion of the season not even a fifth of the way through let's exercise patience or at least I know I will be.
  17. https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/transfer-news/chelsea-real-madrid-antonio-rudiger-21853391.amp?__twitter_impression=true We continue to sit in a stalemate, Madrid will reportedly make an attempt to sign him in January. Now as far as I'm concerned I'm almost 100% certain we keep him for at least the whole season come the summer I assumed at some point we would reach some sort of compromise. Look he's essential to the way we play currently but, that doesn't mean we can't adapt if he leaves. He's one of the main reasons we can play 3atb so comfortably and perhaps we're he to leave next summer TT will be forced to play 4atb who knows. Every Cloud has a silver lining but, I still would like to retain him just not more than 200k a week we're not Arsenal....
  18. Im not going to lie lads was looking forward to this one (still am) but, this does just hang a bit of a cloud over the game. The Liverpool game was such a good contest before the card and despite what people say about us holding on and showing how impressive we can be defensively that's not what we should have had to do. I don't like the flow of a game being ruined by a controversial decision that is down right absurd I dont think anyone can really complain if we conceded the pen but, James stays on. For me VAR not showing the full incident and Anthony foaming at the mouth to pull out the card ruined the game not just for the mutual but, I'd argue for both sides of fans (scousers might have enjoyed being on top but they couldn't attack on transition which is their bread and butter). End of the day for us the contest was at best over at half time. Going back to this upcoming fixture I hope Anthony Taylor and VAR especially will attempt to officiate more fairly because no matter what anybody says to me that decision is incorrect based on my reasoning he didn't watch the whole play but merely the incident the ball hit his arm which importantly was after he had blocked it on the line with his thigh or knee anyway. How are we able to go back all the way to Azpil supposedly committing a foul and disallowing a goal two or 3 phases later but we can't stand at a monitor for 5-10 seconds to see how the ball hits his arm. That for me says it all no I'm not saying a bias against Chelsea what I'm saying is there is no consistency which is just not acceptable.
  19. I agree with all of this except for the first part of the last paragraph. 30 combined goal contributions in 60 games is actually bonkers considering he's not really hit the level of consistency or accuracy he's shown in the past. I don't understand why people seem to think 25 is the finished article when for a striker its either the start of the peak or a few years out. He can very much reach world class status at Chelsea nevertheless its up to him to put belief in his own ability and for the team and coach to get the very best out of him when he does play. Aside from the UCL final in which he truly did put my faith in him to the test, he alongside Mason make this attack tick you could also throw an in form Pulisic into that mix as the most crucial forwards in this team. Romelu is another one although, after a bright start he has faded a bit and we need at least a season under his belt before assessing him. Yet I suspect he'll eventually form a devastating attack combination with pretty much all of our attackers and may in fact bring out the best in some of them (Timo, Christian & Callum) especially since they have quite compatible styles to Rom's I'd throw in Hakim as well. Mason and Kai also looked decent with Rom but, arguably not as effective in bigger games as with Timo last season. My point is if he has 30 goal contributions in 60 games (goals and assists mean the same thing for me) added to his already impressive skill set he's already close to being if not already there at the level just below world class, so why dismiss him from ever reaching the peak of football? Because he misses chances? Sure but, so do some of the very best in the game that's not to say he can't become more clinical which for some is probably all he is missing to be classed as as world class. My point as I'm sure you've guessed is he could become one of the world's best if he believes in himself more, trusts his natural instincts and thinks less. Then he can be one of the World's best, after KDB and Salah last thing we want is him reaching that level somewhere else. 25 is still young, Ronaldo (I know he's not Cr7) scored more goals after 30 than before just as an example. Again I'll leave anyone that's forgotten what he was like at RB with this and it doesn't even include what I feel is his now best attribute his creativity. It does however highlight his pace, finishing and what he's like when he's confident. @ForeverCarefree just so you know its not that I think you're wrong and this isn't aimed at you specifically I just think some are underestimating not only this man but, the club's vision when they brought him in. This one is for the long term just like the others around him who are only a couple/few years younger. 95 goals from 2016-2020 is pretty close to world's best if you ask me.
  20. https://www.football.london/chelsea-fc/news/chelsea-cristiano-ronaldo-issue-tuchel-21824477 Lukaku is the 3rd lowest presser in the league in front of only Ronaldo and Maximin. I'm sure we could see that since he's played our press hasn't been nearly as effective and this isn't a dig at him or the way Tuchel is using him or intending to use him. However, perhaps he does need to work a bit harder off the ball to involve himself in the play. After all pressing high is often where dangerous turnovers are made and goal scoring opportunities arise.
  21. The guy deserves a decent run of games, I for one hope he gets it. He's more than capable of replicating his hot streaks in England it's whether he gets enough opportunities to do so.
  22. Looked good for France when I've watched him, with Trevor's ability to play cdm I'd like to have both in the squad.
  23. I'd like to try 4321 I think it suits the squad just as much as 4231. Mount, Ross or Ruben would play deeper alongside any 2 of Kanté, Kovacic and Jorginho. Then have 2 inside fwds like we currently have Timo, Kai, Pulisic, CHO and on occasions Mount. Lukaku up top, take away a defender and play an attack minded midfielder to compliment the duo we already have in the pivot. The fullbacks still provide width but rather than having 3 cbs back when we attack we have 2cbs and 1 midfielder like Jorgehh drops in between to make a 3
  24. Was that the dual 10s in 433? Basically as an 8
  25. Have to agree with Ibrah's quote, whether Kai is being played out of position is another question since the two spots behind the striker are supposes to be inside 10 positions so in theory that is his ideal position. I'm not sure if we have ever actually played Kai in a sole number 10 position the whole time he's been here. I remember under Frank we played a 4231 but, I recall he played on the right.
