I totally disagree with your assessment. Conor Gallagher went on loan to a losing team In westbrom but has clearly grown from the experience.
The most important thing regarding Gilmours loan was to send him to a team where he would be guaranteed to start and also a possession team not a long ball team . Norwich ticks both boxes and I can guarantee he will come back to Chelsea a man after his experience

    Hello!
I hate to be negative with my first post but I have to be honest and say I do not enjoy the majority of the football being played under TT.
Far too mch is dependant on us keeping clean sheets game after game. This is not sustainable and we will not win the title playing like this.
We've got to be braver and ditch this extremely negative back 5. Also, serious questions need to be asked about the productivity of Mount, Ziyech, CHO, Werner, Havertz, and when he's fit,  Pulisic. Apart from the occasional flash of quality from Havertz,  there's no   real improvement in any of them since TT arrived. Still seeing the same slow, disjointed play with passes not being played when the should be played and  endless misplaced passes. It's like they've never played together before.
If we carry on playing like this I can see another season of us struggling for 4th and I wouldn't be surprised at all if we drop 5 points in the next two games.

Call me crazy, but this team is missing what Werner brings to the table. His workrate offensively to occupy defenders, to drag players all over the pitch, to wear defenders down, to create imbalances in the opposing defense, the threat of his pace and his surprisingly solid assist contributions. Most importantly though I feel the whole team defends better as a unit with him relentless pressing from the front. Maybe my memory is just bad, but I don´t seem to remember the team giving up so many goal scoring opportunities last season. In a way he is Chelsea´s Firmino. Also he has always functioned best as a secondary striker, so I´m really surprised Tuchel´s hasn´t tried playing him with Lukaku. Especially with the injury to Pulisic as I just do not see what Ziyech does better than Werner.

Mount and Ziyech devoid of any quality in that half. Ziyech not involved enough, Mount was involved, but very poor on the ball.
This is the sort of game which I thought Hakimi would be perfect for, we dont have anyone beating their man in the wide areas, I think James attempted one dribble, he needs to be way more aggressive imo. Alondo diesnt have that in his locker.
All very slow and safe, then when there is a chance its sloppy.
Boring half. Hopefully squeeze a win.
ps that Zenit corner is one of the worst ive ever seen.

Can't predict the future but in theory it makes some sense imho: loan out a very young player that has the talent but lacks serious experience as a constant starter so that he can gain that experience to cpme back and immediatley be a candidate for starting formation at a AAA-club while you bring in an experienced and potentially world-class (broad definition) player that you expect to come in and bring 100% more or less on the get go and in various scenarios due his experience.
It remains to be seen how many minutes Saul actually gets once Jorgi, Kova (in beast mode atm, arguable more or less since TT took over) and Kanté are available (or even 2/3 at least fully fit). I think that especially as a CM who's supposed to dictate and influence the game as nobody else on the pitch it helps you most to play a lot of games as a regular starter if you lack match experience -> not the worst decision to let Gilmour go on loan to a side where he can learn exactly that.

Because if Saul fail we will manage with Kante, Kovacic and Jorginho who are all terrific midfielders. And if Saul does alright he'll get his chances when the other midfielders needs to be rested in the domestic cups for example.
Gilmour could have stayed and do that job too. But that would mean being on the bench most of the time and we clearly thought it was more important for Gilmour to play every week, get a rhytmn and learn the ins and outs of the toughest league in the world.

Every path is different. Mount and James benefited greatly from loans for example.
And some may disagree but I don't think Gilmour is ready yet. He's very vulnerable defensively still and has "only" had a decent start for Norwich this campaign and he still got a lot of learning to do. Learning that we can't really afford right now as we are in a dogfight for the title this season.
I am sure the hope is that Saul regains the form that made him one of the most sought after midfielders in Europe at one point. It's a chance to take but clearly one the club and Tuchel wanted to go for.

Tuchel obviously doesn't agree with your assessment and neither do I seeing as Alonso started against Villa and was made captain..
I was terrified of Salah and TAA ripping Alonso a new one in anfield but he held his own and even offered some support to the attack regardless of being a man down
I prefer my coach making decisions based on performances in training and not reputation. Alonso has been by far our best wingback this season and I am sure Chilwell recognizes this. He will get his chance sooner or later but for now I prefer the false 3

The entire front three struggled in the first half because the midfield in particular was being dominated by Villa with Saul in particular struggling.
If you're not getting any service, there's not much you can do to impact on the game. Time and again in that first half we were just punting 40+ yard balls high up the pitch. It was pretty rubbish football from us.
I didn't think Havertz did much wrong, didn't look sloppy in possession or anything like that.

So he can get 30+ Premier League games under his belt as a starter? It remains to be seen how good Saul actually is but as of now he's fourth choice and will have limited game-time when everyone is fit and the international break is behind everyone.
At this point it's more important for Gilmour to play week in, week out because he'd be fourth choice here as well. And he's got a lot of developing to do before he starts a lot of games for us.

I doubt he expected any different.

I don't care that much about his debut, EPL takes time to adapt to but he certainly needs to put in a lot of work and dedication to become the player that we need. (Also I would like to point out that today was a good case against Trev as a DM in our system)...I'm just crossing fingers that Saul can get himself motivated to do it the hard way (the only way) given he hashad an über-demanding manager for the last couple of years and didn't had the best way out too. To get yourself rolling in a complete new environment with another über-demanding manager within a league that never gives you pause to breathe isn't too easy...

....yet I'm still very happy he's here.

    Chelsea
Chelsea can become only the second club, after Manchester United, to win 600 Premier League games this Saturday. They have earned 45 points under Thomas Tuchel - a tally bettered only by Manchester City's 51 during that time. The Blues have conceded a league-low 14 goals since Tuchel took charge. Two of Tuchel's three Premier League defeats have been in home games, with the other coming away at Aston Villa. Chelsea's seven goals in all competitions this season were scored by seven different players. Jorginho has been closed down by an opposing player when in possession of the ball an unrivalled 160 times this season. Romelu Lukaku has failed to score in all 14 appearances at Stamford Bridge in all competitions.

Agreed about CHO and Challobah being too inexperienced a tandem. I would start with a strong line-up with a couple of youngsters / fresh players in it (Trev + Ziyech for example), go full throttle from the get go to get an ealy lead and sub early.

Was going to come on here saying 3 goals in 3 games, but did anyone see his miss today. I honestly think it has undone all the confidence he built up. It was an open goal, right in the centre, 3 yards out, noone near him.
Im not suprised Havertz shielded that ball for it to be his goal. He couldnt even celebrate, he seemed broken after that earlier miss.

Doubt TT needs much convincing. My guess is he sets up Werner now like he did with Havertz last season who wasn't rushed in at the beginning but rather prepared well during training sessions before let on the pitch; which worked pretty well I'd say.

Content with the loan although I would have preferred that young French one from Monaco who could have build a good future midfield with Gilmour but can't complain if Saul hasn't lost it completely.

I don't see why he would be "wasted" as a wingback? The way we set up our attacks the wingbacks are both incredibly involved and not just because they run up and down the pitch. With the talent Callum got I don't see why he couldn't do what Hakimi does for example. What's stopping him? Certainly not his talent as a footballer I'd say.

Tbf I think he just doesn't want to be used as purely a dm or utility man in the way Simeone has played him these past few seasons. Under Tuchel as one of the double 6s I can imagine he will be encouraged to fulfill every role in that CM slot (box to box, holding, etc) he has all the tools to succeed so let's hope he recovers he's past form.
He may be what we've been needing for years, goals from midfield. If he shoots from outside the box I doubt many people will complain, also if he dribbles through the team and has shot again its something we wish Kovacic and Kante did more of, we know they can do it.

Seems that Saul Niguez is coming over here and Tuchel himself said that Chalobah has forced himself into the first team therefore he considers him as a new signing and rightly so. I dont believe Tuchel is unhappy with our transfers. Quality over quantity.

I don't think it will. We got him his striker and midfielder unfortunately we couldn't get his defender but Chalobah can be the replacement for Zouma and if we have injuries we can buy Kounde in the January window
