  1. I would still consider Kounde as he can cover a lot of positions. Plus Thiago will be leaving end of season and it is still unclear whether Toni will stay.
  2. I am hoping Mbuyamba gets a chance in second half
  3. Not too surprising to see Saul struggling against a midfield that he struggled against a couple of weeks ago.
  4. I think this would have been a better game for Saul to make his debut than Saturday. That being said I will be surprised if TT makes any changes until at least the hour. He rarely does.
  5. We will likely see this set up from a lot of teams that visit the bridge this season. TT needs to figure out a different strategy to break them down. The current line up might be ok away at Liverpool but we should show more attacking intent tonight.
  6. Unless there is some late activity in the window we end up keeping both
  7. I would prefer that we kept RLC over Barkley. See if TT can unleash his potential over the season.
  8. Agreed. Unless Sevilla suddenly buckle (which I don't see happening) this deal looks unlikely for the current window. I can understand that but it does make some of the player departures surprising. We've basically lost the following defensive options from our squad over this window only including those with some first team experience: Zouma, Guehi, Tomori, Amapadu, Sterling, Clarke-Salter. Really only Chalobah coming in (returning from loan) Perhaps TT will consider playing just 2 CB's in a number of games?
  9. I forget about his injury. He arrived from Barcelona with some hype but that clearly set him back. I imagine if it comes down to it we are more likely to use a player out of position than risk an untried member of the academy, at least in the major competitions. So perhaps we should prepare for Jorginho at CB 😉
  10. He fell out of favour at Madrid the last year or so. Remains to be seen if he can regain his old form. However the loan fee presents a low risk. I think the previous sticking point was that Madrid wanted a requirement to buy at the end of the loan. Now we have an option to buy which seems like a much better bet in case he doesn't work out.
  11. As it stands we have 5 recognized options for our defensive 3 - Thiago, Rudiger, Christensen, Azpi, Chalobah. I imagine others (e.g. Reece) could fill in if needed but they have not been played in those positions regularly. Being that Chalobah has only made a couple of starts for the first team, and both Thiago and Azpi are veterans there is certainly the potential for us to encounter a shortage in defense at some point this season. With that in mind I'm surprised we loaned out Ampadu/Sterling relatively late in the window. Maybe Mbuyamba will have an opportunity.
  12. I doubt he is going to be any cheaper in the next couple of transfer windows. So if we really want him we know the price. Otherwise we should move on to other options.
  13. Quite possible but doesn't make a lot of sense if that was the case. Zouma was hardly dead wood and I doubt we would have had too many challenges finding other clubs for him if West Ham deal had fallen through. With that in mind we should have taken the opportunity to get Kounde at the lower price if we were prepared to pay it.
  14. I was thinking the same. In theory we didn't need a bunch of new signings if we had kept the likes of Gilmour around. But after letting some of those players leave we run the risk of looking light in certain areas of the squad if we hit some injuries.
  15. Supposedly Hudson-Odoi will only be allowed to leave if we bring in Kounde.
  16. Looks increasingly unlikely at this point. For both Kounde and Saul
  17. He looked good yesterday. Potential to be a very good player. Incredible pace and power but he needs to improve his delivery. Reminds me a little of Gronkjaer in that respect.
  18. I can understand why Athletico want the mandatory buy clause. If we take Saul on a year long loan and he fails to impress they will find it much harder to get a decent price for him. No doubt they have some concerns over his injuries in recent years. Equally the same concerns are probably there from our point of view. Maybe we should bid for Bissouma instead? Proven in the Premier League and we could probably get him for less than the price quoted for Kounde.
  19. Chalobah is an option to cover midfield too, but assuming we don't sign Kounde I agree it might be better to bring somebody like Saul in, and use Chalobah in defense.
  20. Sounds like that is what happened. But we have been stung by this kind of thing in the past. Why do we let players leave before we have signed their replacements? Even if Zouma deal to West hame had fallen through there would have been plenty of takers for him late in the window. Now we will either have to pay over the odds for Kounde, find an alternative, or hope that our existing squad options are enough for a long season.
  21. LOL. To be honest I've always preferred Motherwell over both of them 🙂
  22. 10 men or not we are playing terribly this half. We need to keep hold of the ball better
