I think this is a perfect example of just how low the bar is set with Torres. He did no more than what we expect from a centre forward last night, even then im talking about the last 20 mins, the previous 70 he was carried by the rest of the team.

Great to see him scoring a crucial goal though, cant fault him for that, but personally the very least id expect from a centre forward is to run about with intention and aggression. We have seen so little of that from Torres that when he actually does it he is considered to have played 'brilliantly', which wasnt the case at all. He was just standard and even then only for 20 mins.

He should never have been allowed to have taken that penalty though, credit to him for demanding it i guess. But hands up who thought really thought he was going to score ? The match was still very much in the balance and that miss couldve cost us badly if they'd have scored afterwards.

But Evissy, Drogba made a habit of it. Drogba won us game after game, trophy after trophy.

Please lets, not compare Drogba and Torres. It borders on insulting!

There were some comments made that Torres was 'brilliant' last night when he clearly wasnt and simply did his job, albeit for about 20 mins. Thats why i highlighted that our expectations are set so pathetically low that when he does do alright a description of his performance is often warped. Last night was a perfect example of that.

Fernando Torres has absolutey no right to say 'enough is enough'!

Whilst I find it very hard to defend the heriachy at the moment one thing that cannot be argued is that Chelsea Football Club have done absolutley everything to help Torres, in fact they have gone to limits i have never seen any club go to just for one player. He has also had a level of support i have never seen from the fans before , certainly more than his 'performances' have warranted. This support has now quite rightly and quite belatedly evaporated as he stumbles from one shambolic performance to another. Whats made the fanbase now reach the end of their tether is that there is now a more capable striker in the squad and Torres still gets more starts despite never looking like delivering.

When Torres leaves, woe betide him if he he has a pop at the club. He has no right. His failings are down to himself, both mentally and phyiscally.

Absoutley clutching at straws there is the interim.

Its pathetic and almost as pathetic as Torres was on the pitch yesterday.

The idea of us winning the Europa League when we have just Fernando Torres as our one striking option is utterley laughable.

Just how on earth has it come to this. Good lord, Hillario wouldve offered us more as a centre forward last night. And i say that without any hint of irony or joke - its gone beyond comedy now and its long passed the tragedy stage too.

I think the writing was well on the wall before that sadly.
Ill always respect Robbie for refusing to pick Torres in that game despite the injury to Sturridge. He knew he was going and thus went out on his terms.
He, like all of us was sick of the Torres nonsense and wasn't going to play along any more.

I simply cannot accept that Demba Ba will not start on Sunday. He simply has to after a 2 week rest. Anything else makes no sense at all.

If he doesnt then once and for all we have total confirmation that Chelsea is a a club in total dysfunction beyond any quick repair. Furthermore, i will be disillusioned to new levels.

Mentioned this in the matchday thread and whilst its a little harsh because we scored i think its still worth highlighting.

Just look at the position of Torres when we attacked for the first goal on Sunday. Right at the the top of the pic. This is our centre forward!

It actually looks worse if you look at the replay on the video here from around the 0:47 mark. He really does seem to actually run away from the ball, doesnt even look like he is trying to pull a defender away.

Don't agree with the booing one bit but it was inevitably going to happen at some point. Booing your own player is a mugs game but the paying support have had their patience tested to the limit.
I suspect that's the watershed now and he has officially gone past the point of no return with the support. It was always likely to happen when another forward who is performing was bought in to challenge him. I doubt he will recover.
It is completely, unarguably 100% over.
