  1. There are fans that just seem to want squads filled with academy players. It doesnt matter if we win trophies, it doesnt matter if we play good football, some fans just want it to be like it was in the 70's. Im 35, and i only remember Chelsea buying players from all over the world, even pre roman, there was very few academy players coming through regularly even then. Now we have just won a champions league final with 3 youth players playing massive roles in the final, even the fabled class of 92, only had 4. Im really not sure what fans have to complain about. We are a massive club, that sign big name players for lots of money, if we can bring through a couple of youth players every 5 or 6 years then great, but its not what the club have been focused on for the last 25 odd years.
  2. Doom amd gloom merchants are back again. Not hrard much since the Champions League final win, and top 4 finish. Guehi obviously wants to play regular football, we cant offer that, unless anyone is advocating selling 1 or 2 out of the best defence in europe last season. He wont sign a contract, and has only 2 years left, there is a path for him, if he was willing to bide his time and give it a couple of seasons, whilst we look to move on Thiago Silva, and Azpi. But he doesnt want to wait, he wants to play now, and from various reports over the last few months, he doesnt want to go on loan. What is the club supposed to do in this situation? At least we are managing this better than we did Lamptey, and we are getting a good fee, and some interesting clauses, which could see him return, or see us earn even more money in the future. We have so many players coming through, even if we sold all the deadwood players, there is no way we could accommodate Guehi, Tomori, Colwill, Christiensen, Ampadu, Mayamba, Simeu, and Panzo. 8 great centre back prospects over the years, with not much of age difference in between, and its like that all over the pitch. Hopefully we still use the better prospects that are willing to bide their time, and play the longer game, to boost the squad. Then the ones that slip through the net, try get decent money to put back into the 1st team. No more money wasted on squad players.
  3. Really like Chiesa, always looks dangerous. Not worth €100m though, and I dont even think he can move anyway, or it would be very complicated, as he is in loan at Juventus, with an obligation to buy next summer.
  4. Didnt think he had the best tournament tbh, looked tired. That being said, the tactics Southgate used does not get the best out of attacking players. Not really fussed though, hopefully he gets a nice rest, and carries on performing for us.
  5. I meant Tuchel didnt have time or a willingness to work with Abraham, so why would he want to use Broja, considering he is more raw than Abraham. I agree with your assessment on Abraham though.
  6. Il be shocked if any of the loaned players came back in. We saw how ruthless we are with sacking Lampard, there is no time to turn a gallagher into a locatelli. Im also pretty sure Tuchel wants a team to win the title, is he going to time to develop broja, when there was no time afforded to develop Abraham. Long way to go in the window yet.
  7. Gone very quiet on the haaland front, and pretty quiet on incomings in general. Very different to last summer, where we seemed to be constantly progressing. Hakimi is off the psg, which is a shame imo. I thought he couldve added something extra to the attack, especially against those low blocks. Sancho looks close to United, i dont think that has ever been an option for us. So we are looking to Haaland to fix our goalscoring problems. If Haaand is a step beyond what we can do financially, will it be better to go with what we have, or bring in a player with potential? Daka, Vlaovic, Isak, Jovic, Silva, Ings, etc Could turn into a master stroke, or could end up another Batshuayi. If we dont do anything to improve the attack, will there be a lower expectancy on Tuchel to challenge for the title?
  8. I dont think his size is an issue. Maybe if he was a foreign player adapting it might be a problem. Gilmour has grown up with the physicality of the british game, and to be honest, he looks like the sort of lad who relishes that part aswell. Unless their is a perfect loan that becomes available, maybe under Lampard in the prem, where you know he will play regularly at a high level, in a team that like to pass the ball, then i would just keep him here. Loads of games next season, and i think even with another midfielder coming in, he will get plenty of opportunities. Kamte amd Jorginho arent getting any younger, Kovacic misses games with injuries, and im sure Gilmour has earned some trust with Tuchel now to play a bigger part.
  9. Agree 100%, back the manager. If he wants Traore then so be it. Just wouldn't be my choice.
  10. Biggest disappointment for me if we miss out on Hakimi, is if we end up siging Traore instead. So many conflicting reports on this one. If we were interested and then lose out to PSG again, it will be a bit of a blow having lost Cavani and Pastore to them too. It wouldnt inspire too much confidence in me to think we can get the Haaland deal over the line. European champions, more attractive league, better mananger, and a settled system that suits the player. You would think we would have some big advantages over PSG. At least we will know either way soon, becayse Inter have to generate money before the end of the month. Just hope we stick with Livramento, or look at taking Lamptey back rather than signing Traore.
  11. Charlton will be having ptsd
  12. He was class. Crazy that Pogba and kante have never lost a game together, 28 games now. Always rated Pogba, and was pretty gutted we missed out on him, but I think that ship has sailed. He seems to miss a fair few games with injury, and he has a lot of baggage aswell. If we were getting the France version, motivated and fit, then it would be a no brainer.
  13. If Conte was here I would 100% agree. Kante and Rice in that Conte setup would be perfect. Just not sure I like that combination for how we build up under Tuchel. I think we would lack that playmaker, and we will struggle to be slick playing out from the back, anf beating the press to hurt the bigger sides. Jorginho is much better defensively than Fabregas though, both look like they are running through treacle though! Jorginho's passing has been the main disappointment for me admittedly. I dont really see him as a weak link, anymore than i would Rudiger, Christiensen, or Werner. We could probably improve on them, but they have also shown enough quality to stick with longer in my opinion. I believe we can win the league with the same team, if Werner and Havertz have an improved 2nd season.
  14. Just out of curiosity, what is it that those would swap Jorginho for Rice, think are ways Rice would improve us against low blocks? Not sure if this is more of a twitter opinion, than one on here. We have seen Jorginho play well in this system against the big teams, but as a team we have struggled against teams that sit deep. So if we are looking for an upgrade in centre midfield, what is it about Rice's game that will see us beat these sides? Under Lampard, we were very open at times, and seeing get completely dominated in midfield against City and Leicester, I was all for another defensive, more physical presence to play alongside Kante. Since Tuchel has come in and implemented his system, and switching to a back 3, I dont really see centre midfield as a big problem area. I can understand how having someone like Saul next to Kante would be beneficial, as he offers more threat going forward, and can shoot well from distance, and he has a skill set that is different to what we have now. Im just struggling to see how bringing in Rice or an Ndidi type player would actually garner better results against the teams we struggle against, unless we are playing switching to a back 4, which could be an option, but we have just won Europes biggest prize using that system. I think i would be looking at a Kante deputy, someone that would be happy to back up Kante for a couple of seasons, and with a similar skillset, or I would want someone like Saul for the reasons mentioned above. Rice for big money, to play alongside Kante doesnt do it for me.
  15. Some of the negativity around Jorginho i find quite staggering. For a player that is so much of a liability, we had the 3rd best defence in the league under sarri in front of a back 4, we had the second best this season mainly with a 5, we had the best defence ever in champions league run, and italy are unbeaten in 28 games! There have been horrir shows, but they are pretty few and far between, and he is usually great in the games. He has his limitations, but so does every player. He gets criticized when we struggle to break teams down, when there are usually 4 or 5 'specialist' attackers that are supposed to create and score goals. There is way more criticism of him, than you see defending from the 'Jorginho cult' or whatever that is. He does loads of things better than Rice aswell, but for some reason Rice is a Chelsea fan favourite despite not actually being Chelsea player, and hasnt played any significant game in his career yet. Anyway rant over.
  16. Not watched England much since the world cup, I remember growing up, and international football was a real step up from what you see every weekend. Nowadays it seems a real drop off in quality compared to watching Chelsea. Anyway good start to the Euro's for a change. Is it coming home? I suppose Greece managed it one year, so anything is possible!
  17. Worse thing is, that goal guarantees him a start in thr rest of the games
  18. Sterling makes decent runs, but he is so wasteful. Similar to Werner tbh. Just dont see how Bellingham, Chilwell, James, and Grealish dont start, even Sancho has a better shout to start over Sterling. Also not been impressed with Rice, I think we would struggle to play out like we currently do, if he replaced Jorginho.
  19. How are linekar and co bigging up this performance. Decent 20 minutes, followed by us losing the midfield, and playing long balls.
  20. That eriksen incident is one of the hardest things ive ever seen on tv. I thought he was gone. Credit to the medical response because they have brought him back from the brink. Im not sure whether you can put it down to exhaustion, Im no doctor, and they havent said what went wrong, but unfortunately these things happen, even to young fit people. Really greatful he seems to be okay, maybe it was a blessing that it happened when there was a medical team on standby. It couldve been fatal if he was put for a run on his own.
  21. Where have you seen that? The guardian reported a couple of days ago, Haaland wants 300k, If he said he wanted 500k, i doubt we would even be negotiating at this point. I think we could get him for around 300k and then give him some decent performance related bonuses. Kante is on 290k, and Hazard turned down over 300k before he moved to Madrid, so i think his wages will be manageable. I think tbe sticking block will be the fee to Dortmund, amd the fee the Raiola tbh.
  22. When CHO played wing back against Burnley, the opener came from azpi overlapping CHO, there is definitely flexibility in the formation to allow the right centre back to push forward. Even under conte, Azpi was stepping into midfield and putting in dangerous crosses. In the youth team, James played right centre back, with Dujon Sterling at right wing back and it worked out well. I dont think it is a priority area to strengthen, but I also dont think it is a bad thing for James, he is quality, and he will play, and personally i think he isnt that suited to wing back anyway, because he isnt great taking on his man 1v1, by the looks of it, Tuchel feels the same, hence the Traore and Hakimi links. Azpi will be the one that sees his minutes reduced, which was also the case at the start of last season under Lamps ironically enough. Livramento has 12 months on his contract, maybe he wasnt planning on staying anyway, after seeing Lamptey leave because of James, who knows whether he wants to stay. Hakimi is class, and will improve us if we manage to pull this off.
  23. Loads of clips of him on the left there. I think he would be an asset to any squad. Just hope it is to play infront of James, rather than instead of.
  24. Probably moving on Hakimi 1st because of PSG. Great player, and if Tuchel wants him, then im backing the manager. From my point of view, I dont think he is particularly needed, however he is a fantastic option for right and left wing back.
  25. Ifs, buts, and maybes. Guess we will have to see how it pans out. With Chelsea you could be right😂
