  1. why are you using this as a defensive stance? opinions aren't some infallible gospel. yes, i think that a striker who scores lots of goals (top quality and important ones too) on a regular basis will get more credit for his goals than a striker who sparsely scores (never mind them being good, nor important). that's the reasoning for my opinion which seems rational to me, now what reasoning are you using for your opinion?
  2. torres scored a great goal last night but people (myself included) are more impressed of the 'worth' of a goal when it comes from a reliable source, so to speak.
  3. if van persie scored that goal then people would be lauding over it much more because he does it on a regular basis and you're safe in the knowledge that it is pure skill whereas with torres it is fair to assume, based on his form for the past 2 and a half years, that more luck was involved and therefore it is less praise-worthy. basically 'context' is the important word here
  4. good, because that argument wouldn't have held up
  5. alrighty, thats your opinion. just thought you mightve contradicted yourself there
  6. just pointing out evissy's hypocrisy. "The support for the Chelsea manager in a Chelsea forum, are you mad?"
  7. didn't see much support on here of a certain manager a few months back
  8. rooney not only passed to van persie but also made a fantastic run to create confusion and time for him
  9. doesnt even make sense. hope that was a joke
  10. he wasnt convincing on the ball in pre-season. looked much better off it.
  11. Drive and the Pusher films have much more focus and aren't in the same league of 'artsy' when compared to OGF. i felt OGF was made to sucker the Drive fans in and then make them detest themselves for doing so; it is quite a bumbling, pretentious film that relies on surface gimmicks like striking visuals, shock value and mood music, but doesn't actually have much of anything stewing underneath. gosling in particular is parodying himself at this point
  12. my god. the open space between moses and torres is so damn large you'd have to be covering your eyes not to see it
  13. nope. i'm sticking with my original thought. he should be about 5 yards further forward to the top left of the screen and attacking the space to give moses an option, instead what he does is drift BACKWARDS and blocks of the path of hazard, effectively breaking down the whole move, as usual skip to 50 seconds http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cntBfT1XIss
  14. maybe i blinked for too long but i can't remember torres putting himself into any form of a decent position for moses. if i recall correctly he was shying away 5 yards behind moses and leaning on his heels
  15. nobody knows for sure, no, but based on the evidence of the last 3 seasons we can take a damn good guess that he won't (unlike and lukaku and especially kevin, who has looked fantastic on loan and now in preseason). so if jose will do "whats best for the team" he'll get rid of torres now instead of waiting until the season begins, where he'll then be forced to drop him like we all knew he would, then will have to rely on lukaku and ba for 6 months.
  16. i did notice the similarities between the passenger. thats another film i think needs a rewatch to get my head around what's involved.
  17. Five Easy Pieces i hadn't watched this film in years but for some reason it left a big impact this time round. captures the feeling of wanting to move away from a past but not knowing where to go, set in front of a somewhat carefree 70s america. a very grounded and reflective film. this will stay with me
  18. Before Midnight didn't fall in love with it like i did the prequels. lost some of it's emergence and fairytale touch in place of grounded day-in-the-life 'adulthood', not exactly why i came to love these movies, though it warrants a rewatch at some point
