Come'on Guys why must we always consort to name calling and dissing when we disagree? Doesnt matter how true or crazy his views are, either dont reply or use that infamous ignore button so many here vehemently are fond of. Good on us and Azpi to extend......he aint back to his best yet but damn he's a quality defender.
Only in the cups I think.......sure they made a meal out of it.......but a Club like ours should embrace it. Way too often we get jacked in games where our rivals dont. It can only be good news to us Chels fans.....imo.
I believe our league is so good because partly because of the fans.
I was supporting before RA came along I missed the success of the 70’s and saw us win the ZDS and the FA Cup. I was also there when we got hammered by Utd in ’94. I also went to Europe when Hoddle was in charge. I was also pleased when Mourinho delivered the league and later we won the CL.
In the early days we were a side struggling to stay in the top half of the league. I recall away at Grimsby midweek in the 5th round of the FA Cup 95/96 and it was 0-0. The match was poor and we looked like conceding and the home fans were calling us rent boys. I shouted out a comment back and the people laughed behind me and then we started singing and then the team seemed to smarten up their act and got us back to SB to take us forward to the semis.
Did we get that far as I insulted the Grimsby fans and made our lot laugh and then we started singing. Did this lift the players in the wind and rain to up their game as it meant something to our fans. I don’t know yet it is well known some players are big game players they respond to big or passionate crowds.
I like the FA Cup too and noticed Kante scored one of his rare goals to beat Utd last season another highlight was when Wigan in the third tier knocked out City who looked unbeatable at that time. Yes they were lucky one player was not sent marching yet they were stayed in the game until Will Greig got a cracking winner.
Just don’t think with a Super League you will get that drama and connections with the fans.
Sure, certain clubs will be able to earn more revenue yet if revenue is the only thing why not suggest Roman goes on his way and we get the Unilever man in and buy Neymar, Rugani, Fekir and all the rest.
I think what makes this season so exciting is that Sarri is potentially going to coach players in a new system and bring through some of the youth and still challenge.
