yogic Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Werder Bremen have admitted that a good bid would see him leave. We missed out on Arshavin. We need a fox in the box creative midfielder. We dont have a whole lot of options.
essiencfc Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Nowhere near as good as Arshavin in my opinion, the few games ive seen of him, I've never been impressed.
g3.7 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 We need a fox in the box creative midfielder. what on earth does that mean?
abramovich Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 We need a fox in the box creative midfielder. what on earth does that mean? It means Yogic is deep in thought.
TheWestwayWonder Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 From what I have seen of Diego he is less versatile than Arshavin in terms of where he plays, but possesses an outstanding set of skills just like the Russian. The problems with Diego are, imo, his attitude, and that I think he would necessitate us changing our style of play which, truth be told, is fine, considering we need serious improvement in the attacking areas of the pitch. Still, I would love to have a player like that. Getting him and van der vaart might be redundant, but I would still chase both and Zhirkov
BlueBosnian Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 One of my favorite players to watch. Would give anything to see him and Robben (again) in a Chelsea jersey. I must say he is very "Deco-like" and might turn out the same way.

Deco was past his best even before he came to us, he is just too old to be world class, on the other hand Diego is stil young (24) and stil has at least 7 quality years ahead of him and he would not come cheap. I would love to see him come to Chelsea as he is awesome at free kicks. He gives us alot of options, would be perfect in our 4-3-3: -----------Cech----------- Bossy---Ivan---JT---Ashley ----------Essien----------- -----Diego------Lamps----- Joey----------------Zhirkov ----------Drogba---------- or 4-4-1-1 (more defensively) -----------Cech----------- Bossy---Ivan---JT---Ashley ---Lamps/Mikel--Essien----- Cole----------------Zhirkov -----------Diego----------- ----------Drogba-----------
PloKoon13 Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Don't they describe Francis Jeffers as the 'fox in the box'?
MHedges Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Nowhere near as good as Arshavin in my opinion, the few games ive seen of him, I've never been impressed. I believe he meant it quite literally:
loz Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Mhedges Are you sure - I was looking forward to seeing our new attacking midfielder...
bcarroll Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 He's playin tonight in the Uefa Cup vs Hamburg. Lets see what he's made of
ducavis Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 His goal was quite stunning, we should start planning for next season ASAP & replace our prehistoric players (not naming anyone)
PloKoon13 Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Let's not get too carried away though, he plays in a pretty poor league. Seems pretty likeable too. Handsome fella too :) Ok, I'm sold.
Sheva Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Can put this one to bed as he's signed for Juventus more or less ;)
loz Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Reports are that they hae paid somewhere in the region of £23m for him - I would have thought that is a major slice of their transfer budget for Juve and maybe not the wisest move given that they are still a long way behind Inter, are also behind a Milan side that has not been exactly scintillating and have the likes of Fiorentina chasing them. would have thought they need a bit more rebuilding than one or two players.
icecoolguy22 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Since we kept Ballack, I doubt we will go for him. A shame really, from the limited highlights I have seen, he ripped the defence apart week in week out in Germany.
abramovich Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I wonder if that move by Juve will make Giovinco more available. I'd love him at Chelsea.
Dorset Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I wonder if that move by Juve will make Giovinco more available. I'd love him at Chelsea. Agree with that 100%
youlots Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 There was some talk of some swap deal with Sampdoria for Cassano wasn't there?
The Moos Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I wonder if that move by Juve will make Giovinco more available. I'd love him at Chelsea. Hands off!
