Posted November 5, 200915 yr Just seen this on the Official website...hope we don't have another @ St. James' Park fiasco..... http://www.chelseafc.com/page/LatestNews/0...1867424,00.html
November 5, 200915 yr In the name of all that is holy, please please please do not let this happen. The club must be more desperate for money than any of us realize if they are even willing to CONSIDER this.
November 5, 200915 yr I've always said that if we were to ever leave Stamford Bridge, then Chelsea FC would no longer exist so far as I'm concerned. The same goes for re-naming the ground, I find it incredible that this is even being seriously considered. The club are alienating the true fans more and more, and don't seem to give a damn about us so long as they make money. I don't think they'll be happy until they've got 100% corporate at games, we don't mean a thing to them and club loyalty is just a meaningless phrase so far as they're concerned. The more the 'Chelsea image' is exposed around the world, the less important the real fans are - I've always realised that, but didn't expect things to move this quick. The very thought of this makes me feel physically sick. Edited November 5, 200915 yr by BlueBeard
November 5, 200915 yr first thing this new bloke does is to announce this? He can f**k right off I just thought the same, really bad start. What im wondering about: He says the name "Stamford Bridge" would be retained, but how does that work if he wants to sell naming rights ? Edited November 5, 200915 yr by german-blue
November 5, 200915 yr I just thought the same, really bad start. What im wondering about: He says the name "Stamford Bridge" would be retained, but how does that work if he wants to sell naming rights ? It means the stadium would be called something horrendous like 'Apple Stamford Bridge' I say keep the stadium nameas it is and let someone rename the East Stand - as long as that company is called Micky Droy
November 5, 200915 yr Good God. I understand the reasons for new stadiums to have these names, but for older ones ? No excuses. I was laughing at Newcastle earlier in the week for this and now.... Its f**king outrageous, and the question needs to be asked - are we skint ? 'Farm Foods Stamford Bridge Stadium' here we come.
November 5, 200915 yr to be honest i couldnt really give a sh*t about this kind of thing. it will still be the bridge to fans, players and pretty much everyone other than the business numptys. the fact someone is willing to pay money to do this is just bloody stupid, surely the company willing to pay the money will realise it will put fans off from their product anyway. to quote old willy shakespeare "What's in a name? That which we call a rose By any other name would smell as sweet."

November 5, 200915 yr what about Gazprom Stamford Bridge ... that would be good for our image I guess ??
November 5, 200915 yr What im wondering about: He says the name "Stamford Bridge" would be retained, but how does that work if he wants to sell naming rights ? By doing a sportsdirect@St. James' Park kind of thing. So everybody loses. What is really sad is when it changes with each new season due to them hooking up with a failing company or whoring it out to a different company every year. Then again, Man U proudly advertises the company that ruined the economy on the front of their shirt.
November 5, 200915 yr :( shouldn't laugh, but very clever heckle Why thankyou (uh oh, gettting out of control now)
November 5, 200915 yr The thing is what's there now is not the "real" Stamford Bridge anyway, Bates saw to that with his f**king hotel/penthouse
November 5, 200915 yr "From Samsung Bridge to Nationwide Wembley, We'll keep the Blue flag flying high".... 'What we are not prepared to happen, and I am sure our fans will appreciate this, is allow our rival clubs in England and Europe to gain a competitive advantage over us in terms of the revenue they can generate through either expanding the capacity of their existing stadia or moving to a new stadium and then invest that upside in their team or the club. That is THE most pathetic excuse I have ever heard. "Were changing the name of the ground" "Dont blame us" "Blame the other clubs for being competitive".
