Advice needed for new laptop.

Eton Blue at the Chelsea Megastore

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a new laptop that could play FM10 with loads of league easily. Whats the best I can get for £400? (or less)

Also, does the processor matter when there is a good amount of RAM? If so what processors should I be looking for?

without even looking at the spec, dont go near it as its from pc world and will be impossible to upgrade. go for a dell if i was you, core 2 duo and at least 2gb ram (3gb if you can stretch to it).

Yeah I've just realised it was refurbished anyway. Which is not what I'm after.

Can you recommend any places to buy a laptop?

ebuyer normally has some good deals. if you arent in a rush then check out www.hotukdeals.co.uk as often as you like, people normally find some good deals on there. just dont go to comet, currys, pcworld etc as you wont get anywhere near what you will of the net. bigpockets is a decent shout Mod, got a couple of things of there and never had a problem.

In my opinion, with the following specs you'll have no problems running all the leagues on Football Manager.

3 GB RAM (+)

250 GB Hard Disk (+)

Processor of 2 GHz or more.

And I think HP Pavillion (dv series) or a Dell Studio could be good value for money options.

Cheers for the advice so far guys, really helpful.

I have another question:

Will these graphics card work for FM10?: Intel GMA 4500 and ATI HD 3470

if your only getting it for games like FM10 then both will do the job, its not that graphically intensive. if your gonna play other hungrier games then you will need to get a graphics card with at least 256mb (preferably 512mb).

Dimensions 14.90" x 10.15" x 1.33" - 1.61"

Weight 6.34 lbs.

Hmm. About 400 grams heavier than my HP Pavillion. But then, mine is a 14.1" machine. So fair enough. I have to agree that for 750 USD it is a good deal.

Though I got mine for 620 USD (after some 100 USD mail-in rebate).

I have never understood what exactly rebate means. Can someone explain?

Not sure where you are in the world, but this offer from Carphone Warehouse is pretty good.

I've had mine a couple of months and it came with Vista, now ships with Win 7.

Take a look here ... I love mine, but I don't use it for gaming.

It's very portable and battery life is pretty awesome.

Not that I know anything about IT you understand

Cheers,

Blakie
