CodyBound Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 Transfer Central TNC â€@TransferNewsCen Fenerbahçe has made a pre-agreement with Raul Meireles for the future. Talks ongoing past month. (Vatan and Mulliyet) -W. Looks like we will be saying farewell to Meireles at the end of the season. Frustrating at times but I will always appreciate his contribution. I will never forget his commitment against Barca, sacrificing his place in the CL final with a challenge that may well have saved us in the final minutes at the game. Here's hoping he has a smashing final season.

dwonder Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 absolute nonsense. would be more happy if the headline had been that the dude in the No 8 shirt is going to fenerbache. not miereless understands what deep lying playing is all about.
jc_cfc Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I hope not, excellent squad player, has definitely matured as a more defensive type CM, guy never used to be able to make a challenge, adds a lot of balance when he comes into the side, always does his job.
sizzler85 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Fenerbahce confirm talks with chelsea for Meireles transfer ?
Guest RFC_CFC Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Well I hope this means Romeu will get game time because Frank and Mikel are not working at all together.
Spiller86 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Who exactly are we proposing to play in midfield if Meireles goes? From my count we have Lampard, Ramires, Romeu, and Mikel. Of our young players McEachran and Chalobah, the most promising are on loan. I'm perplexed.
dkw Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Well I hope this means Romeu will get game time because Frank and Mikel are not working at all together. I would expect to see Ramires besides Mikel with Moses replacing him on the wing. But I dont see the point in this transfer, Meireles is a player I would like to see us keep.

But I dont see the point in this transfer, Meireles is a player I would like to see us keep. I'd do the same but I'm not convinced Robbie will play Rambo there. It would make sense given what we have. I'd also keep Meireles but maybe he wants games.
JoeyN Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 absolute nonsense. would be more happy if the headline had been that the dude in the No 8 shirt is going to fenerbache. not miereless understands what deep lying playing is all about. A few bad games and you want frank to leave? Are you forgetting what he's done for this club? Plastic much?
ducavis Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Not hopping on the Frank must leave bandwagon and with all due respect to his legendary status I just don't see where he fits. However how does what player has done for the Club factor in the future when he is getting handsomely rewarded for his efforts. Sentiment should play no part in keeping a player &/ rewarding them with a new contract
Celery1989 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) Meireles really can't be allowed to leave at this moment in time. Not only is he a useful player in his own right but its not as if we have a surplus of CM's. Maybe in January when we can find a replacement. Edited September 3, 2012 by Celery1989
dkw Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Actually, I wonder if this means Oscar will get more game time in that position, and if so then maybe it makes a little more sense.
The Brit Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 most people know I'm not his biggest fan, but I'm still surprised we're selling him...we have an abundance of attacking players, not so many on the defensive side...and after what happened in monaco, just a few days after the better balance meireles gave against newcastle, it seems odd we're letting him go...we have Lamps, romeu, ramires and possibly oscar to play next to mikel, but with essien gone too, our options are a bit limited
bjd Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Yep, this appears to be picking up pace. And like others i wasnt massivley impressed with his contribution last season but always thought he was a handy squad player to have , surprises me even more when you think how poor our midfield was in the last game and then you look back and it has to be said his partnership with Mikel in the last league game looked very promising indeed, I just hope this means more game time for Romeu, and it certainly suggests the managment team are looking to Oscar to become a very important player foir us. We just have to trust the club on this one.
KosovoBlue Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Meireles is the perfect squad player! Does his job well when called to and never seems to complain about game time. Beside that he's cool and i like him.
Fast Eddie Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Obviously have no idea what the clubs thoughts/plans are for this position but I find him an uncomplicated excellent squad player so would like to keep him. But, as suggested, his desire may be to have more game time and can't blame him for that...
Zola Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 (edited) He's going.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19466253 Edited September 3, 2012 by Zola
Guest RFC_CFC Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Bollocks. I'd rather it have been Malouda tbh.
Spiller86 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Unusual for the Beeb to be carrying that kind of story. Don't like the sound of this.
Guest RFC_CFC Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Who will score the token screamer now Jose and Raul look to be no longer here?
Zeta Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Don't particular rate him, but would have thought he would have been a reasonable squad player to have. He played well against Newcastle and tbh I'd rather put him in DM than Mikel
sizzler85 Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Probably the management is trying to mould Oscar as a deep lying playmaker and play alongside a more defensive player.
BrewCrew Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Bollocks. I'd rather it have been Malouda tbh. Nobody wants Malouda!!!

I'm not sure about us 'moulding' players who we have bought because of their obviosu talents playing where they have been. This happened with Mikel and we tried to mould him into a maka replacement.
