Do any of you think that Demba ba could be our new Drogba?

I know it's too early to get ahead of ourselves, but do you think he could eventually become the new Drogba for us? I have not really seen much of him to be honest. Is he a physically strong guy like Drogba was?

What made Drogba so special was how consistently he rose to the big occasions, Ba hasn't really had a big occasion to rise to in his career yet (or at least not compared to a cup final). Only time will tell if Ba can be the hero that Drogba was.

He would need to make an impact in Wembley before any such comparisons are drawn. 

 

Drogba was never a stop gap striker - he was here and provided far more than just goals in his first two seasons and he had players like Crespo/ Anelka/ Sheva/ Torres to content with all those he out performed and became the main man at the club. Also his leadership qualities in big matches and capability to raise his games when needed are things that made him stand out and become a legend at the club.

 

Best of Luck to Ba trying to emulate what Drogba managed to achieve at the club but such comparisons at this time are just disrespectful.

he is a stop gap signing, a punt by the owner as back up to FT just in case

if FT continues to stiff through May a 'marquee' striker will be signed in the summer

No. IMO Drogba was the best all round forward since George Weah in his prime. It will be a decade or two before we get another centre-forward of Drogba's quality.

At 27 Demba Ba has reacherd his prime. Playing for Chelsea in front of Mata, Hazard and Moses wll increase his goal scoring. However, I don't rate him in ther class of Drogba.

If he transitions well and shows the type of form he did at Newcastle, I don't see anything preventing him from becoming our new... Jimmy Floyd.
