We knew he would get away with it though didn't we. You can imagine the public uproar had it been Terry...

Rio is a complete and utter gimp, that was clear from the moment he did his cringeworthy 'wind ups' where he apparently 'merked' people and then his constant soppy tweets about anything and everything. What a prick.

Spineless coward, tripping a player from behind then pulling him up with that snarl across his stupid face as if Torres should have been booked for diving.

See you at the Bridge for the replay Rio....

Terry should do the exact same thing to someone and see what happens.

YES but........We know he ll be banned for 2 seasons or something equally ridiculous

Neil Ashton on whether or not Roy should pick Rio...

Yes. He remains the outstanding England defender of his generation. If he can get two games against Real Madrid in the Champions League, he can play against San Marino and Montenegro in the World Cup qualifiers.

Really, Neil?

It certainly helps to have David Gill on the FA committee. Surely a conflict of interests. Nobody with a club affiliation should be on the FA. I don't think the FA have punished Rio for anything since his drugs ban. Despite the fact that they've been given plenty of good reasons. Do they feel guilty or something?

He's now saying he fears being snubbed by Hodgson for the next England squad. Rio you haven't played for England since jun2011 for footballing reasons. Your 34. No other player has ever come out with the crap he has, if your picked your picked if you aint you aint its the managers call.

No other player has demanded to be picked or demanded explanations why they were'nt, what gives him the right?

F*ck off Rio!

I don't think he has even played that well to justify a sudden U-Turn on selection policy from Hodgson.

It seems to me Hodgson is trying to gear towards assembling squads that could potentially play together for the next two years and picking someone who is 34 just doesn't factor into that.

I think the current crop of England centre backs is pretty poor in my opinion in contrast to the depth of quality previously available but you really need to use friendlies and qualifiers as a way of giving international experience to players such as Jones and Smalling.

Well I guess that pretty much guarantees he will be in the next england squad then. The bunch of sh*t houses.

Called it.

He's got his recall.

Despite bad form, despite showing himself to be a c**t twice in a week, despite him being too old for the next tournament...

One more reason to stop giving a crap about England.

Big man Rio Ferdinand proved today that he is a key part of the England setup after being named in Hodgson's squad for the key clash with European powerhouses San Marino. Our brave lion Rio will do us proud, forgotten will be the constant whining which got him into the squad. While he is demolishing the opposition, clearly on a different footballing level to them, I will try my hardest to forget that Titus Bramble could probably do just as good a job.

And we wonder why no one likes England.

I like England and I honestly think we're improving. We played well against Brazil.

I like most of the players really apart from Rio.

It would have better for Hodgson if he just came out and said i'm only interested in picking players who have a chance of being in my squad for the world cup. Rio doesn't but because of injuries i have drafted him in as cover. He could have put the ball right back in Rio's court with a comment like that. We would then see how much Rio loves playing for his country without the prospect of a glamour tournament in Brazil next year to come.

JT was hounded out of the captaincy and then international football altogether, a man willing to put his face were Rio wouldn't put his foot. He should have been banned from international football the minute he dodged a drug test but that of course is nothing compared to the heinous crime of being found NOT guilty of calling someone a name.

The FA are a joke which is why any English manager with a hint of vertebrae as never got near the England job and the one Italian that did walked out in protest of his spineless, clueless employers.

Montenegro is going to be a tough game. Main threat in the group. San Marino is going to be a complete and utter joke. Literally no point playing with CBs in that game. Might as well push them up as defensive midfielders.
