Zeta Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 When JT no longer plays for us, who would you like to see made captain? At the moment I'd say the 2 stand-out choices are Ivanovic and Cahill. Any other thoughts?
Coxy15 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 GC hands down. have to say that in terms of leading by example then Dave may be a shout in a few years time. seems to be able to carry out the manager's instructions to the letter, exactly what you want from a captain to transmit to the rest of the squad
sonic90 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 JT will outstay vice captain Lamps, if we follow hierarchy it would be Cech next in line as third captain. David Luiz has the 'big personality' that seems to be a requirement but he doesn't have the discipline. It would have to be someone who has been here a long time so MIKEL
barak81 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Mikel Mikel might actually the most successful captain we have, statistically
Sezze786 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Would like to see Matic but he hasn't been there long enough Cech will probably take it
Shotgun883 Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I dont think Cech will out last Terry, he has about another 2 season in him, by which time Matic would be a solid candidate too, same as Dave although I think Ivan or Cahill are nailed on for it.
RichardCFC Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Gary Cahill at the moment but if Schurrle nails down a starting spot I think he'd be a good one. He always seems passionate but controls it.
bluedave Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Luiz seems to be something of a "people person" but I'm not sure if he'll ever be more than a squad player while Jose's picking the team. If JT and Lamps were both to retire suddenly this summer then I guess it would default to Cech. Cahill would be another solid choice now that he's firmly established in the starting eleven. He was vice captain at Bolton so he wouldn't be entirely unfamiliar with the responsibility.
Zola's Love Child Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Gary Cahill - witthout a shadow of a doubt. I was having this conversation down the pub and some against it were concerned he isn't vocal enough like Terry is to captain the team, but I think he is learning from the best, and we'll really see how much of a leader he is when John has retired.
CFCCAN Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 Probably Ivan or Cahill or even Luiz if he is still around
KrazyTea Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Cahill. This isn't even up for debate. Yup, Ivanovic is too old and there is no one else qualified.
Stim Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 This isn't even up for debate. It clearly is, though.
Bobbywoodhogan Posted April 29, 2014 Posted April 29, 2014 Depends when JT retires really, if he retires in the next two years then Cahill or Ivan but who knows he might go longer and by then there might be someone else
