There's no point in replacing him. He's got rid of most of the old guard which is what people wanted, bought in some young players which is what everyone wanted and has still got substandard players to work with. No point in keep changing the manager, it doesn't make any difference to the results.

Good news Hodgson is staying. I think he's done a good job. He is trying to setup the team according to the quality of players and he has a lot of experience. England will benefit by him staying for longer.

Italy really is clueless against Costa Rica. CR is a very good team. I see England losing to them.

Italy have got it all on if they want to go through.

Not a great tournament for the Europeans so far.

Also the CONCACAF teams have been a credit so far in this tournament. Probably the 3rd strongest confederation at the moment.

Welcome to Copa America people - you never seen The Ticos before from the posts/tweets I have been reading. The best for me of Los Ticos is the fact they have MLS players in their starting 11. It's about putting the right people in the right place & not going off of what you did in the past.

We need a Klinsmann figure ready to clean the whole thing up and revolutionise it. Who that is, I don't know, but it's not Hodgson and it will never be our current FA.

Very true. Maybe Guus Hiddink?

Very true. Maybe Guus Hiddink?

Would Guus accept not winning now?

Though he has got the best out of South Korea in 2002, Australia in 06 and Russia in 08. If we could have a performance in a tournament like these sides (especially Russia in 08) it could serve as a catalyst for the nation.

I honestly think Glenn Hoddle would be good. He's a visionary and understands the game. I would at least have him as assistant to perhaps an Eddie Howe type.

Because my Dutch tv channel froze, I switched to the BBC for a few minutes. How can you British viewers stand that commentary?? Robbie Savage droning on, oh my goodness. I feel for the BBC viewers, poor souls.

This is how low our standards are:

Football Association Chairman Greg Dyke says there is no "great value" in changing England manager Roy Hodgson.

England's consecutive defeats at the World Cup have posed questions of the 66-year-old and Dyke still believes the national side can meet his aim of winning the 2022 World Cup.

He says: "We were not humiliated or anything like that they were narrow defeats but its for the football people not for me to identify why we didn't win.

"I think we feel any great value in changing Roy. I think he's done a good job. Its an approach over four years and we hope to do better in the Europeans."

the FA isn't interested in international football (or the FA Cup!) - they are in thrall to the Premier League and all that money sloshing around

We were not humiliated? I think it's very humiliating to be out of a World Cup after just two games, while seeming a much smaller country in Costa Rica show a lot more effort and desire to beat two teams we deservedly lost too

His voice gets on my nerves. Luckily we can usually change the commentary stream to listen to the commentators from the radio broadcast. Jason Roberts isn't great but is much easier on the ears than Savage.

I actually don't mind England going out when comparing to the performances of Costa Rica.

The desire, work rate, technique, tactics and above all else mental strength have been head and shoulders above us.

A great TEAM.

Uruguay must be confident about sending Italy on the same flight home as us.
