Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Recommended Posts

Getting back to his best now, consecutive goals in the last couple of games now.

Needs one more for 20 league goals.

Absolutely vital to the title run in.

Love him as a player. Great debut season so far.

He has scored 20 goals, according to clubs official site. I mean it shows he has scored a goal in COC.

They don't have a dubious goals panel for the league cup so I think they've been generous and given it to him.

One more for twenty league goals which is an important milestone for any striker. I honestly don't know the last time a striker scored 20 in the league for us? Got to be about 5 years now which just shows what a massive player Diego has been for us this year.

Drogba was the last one in 09-10 winning campaign.

beat me to it. It's great having a striker you can rely on for goals again. And hopefully only going to get better next season, I think playing through Xmas affected him physically.

This was more like it. Had a very good all-round game and scored a very nice goal. Been missing that for a while. Mourinho mentioned him looking very sharp and having some excellent training sessions. Nice to see it carried over into the game.

Completely agree. In recent matches we've seen him stumble over the ball and barely able to control it, he looked a lot more comfortable and made the defenders lives very difficult

Just reading about Costa's hamstring injury on The Guardian and there was this buried in the article.

"Spain are planning to be without the 26-year-old, with Vicente del Bosque having taken the precaution of calling up Málaga’s Juanmi for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Ukraine, while Chelsea are hopeful two weeks without a match should allow Costa, who will not face any retrospective action for his clash with Hull’s Jake Livermore despite the incident not appearing in the referee’s match report, to feature against Stoke."

So an incident the referee didn't report on and has not been retrospectively punished is worth mentioning in an article about a players injury?

Is it just me that finds that a really odd inclusion?

EDIT:

Oh and he's set to miss the Spain matches through injury but should be rested enough to play against Stoke.

^ (Assuming it's the 'incident' I'm thinking of) it was hardly a thrown elbow either, he was trying to shrug off Livermore at a corner who had his arms around him, which is a foul in of itself.

That's the one.

So rather than holding/grappling being the point of debate it's the player being obstructed that is the focus... That's just messed up.
