Daily Star saying we've dropped out of the running for him. Leaving Liverpool to meet Shaktars demands.

Daily Star was enough for me to know this is likely made up.  Their Sports team is a massive 1 person, maybe 2.

If there was any scoops to be had, it certainly wont be from them

Part of me thinks we have moved on from this deal hence the Pato signing.

Another part of me thinks Ramires going is to add to our kitty before bidding

Lots of articles saying we'll use the Ramires cash to fund a late splurge in the market. On who is the mystery, hopefully outbidding Liverpool on deadline day would be nice

We need goalscorers and now that we're getting 25 million for Rambo and if the rumours about a ten million deal for Remy are true, then I'd say we should pay Shaktar 38 million. Sure, we paid "only" 32 million for Hazard, but that was in the summer transfer window and since then the market has gone even crazier and the fees are in bonkers territory now. I'd say it's too much, but that's the state of things these days. Most player prices are too high when compared to their real value.

It's not inflated to the point where £38 million is a decent price from someone playing in Ukraine.

That's just ridiculous.

38 million is a lot of money, but January is a notoriously difficult time of the year to buy players, so prices are likely to be even more inflated than they already otherwise would be. We need goalscorers and we've got money coming in from selling Rambo (and maybe Remy as well), which means we won't be hit very hard financially. If we only sell Rambo, it's 13 million and if the rumour about Remy is also true, our net spending in this window would be three milion. That doesn't sound too bad.

he's saying all the right things to get a move to liverpool, i.e. telling the media how much it would mean to help liverpool win medals etc, etc. the same sh*t he was saying when there was interest from us. whoring himself out for the best offer. i am sure if our interest perks up in the next day or so we'll hear him waxing lyrical about how it's been a "dream" to play for chelsea "blah, blah, blah"  tbh all that kind of talk just makes him look like a c**t with no destination in mind apart from going to a big team.

He's pretty desperate to leave, isn't he? I'm not sure I want to sign a player who says it's a honour to sign for Liverpool. I don't recall Willian said anything like that about Spurs before we hijacked his ride for the medical.

Players will say anything to get their move and more £.

shakhtar holding out for £38 million apparently, and according to the standard we are willing to meet the asking price   don't think it would be wise to spend £38 million on this guy.

It wouldnt be paid in one go anyway.  Probably a number of yrs for FFP reasons obviously.  Willian cost £30m from Russia, and cost Anzhi rougly the same from Shakhtar

Sorry, but are we actually letting the dippers beat us to him? We've spent the window chasing Pato and some no name Yank when Teixeira should have been top of our list. This is Douglas Costa all over again. This club's transfer policy is just f**king stupid, run by a bunch of morons.

I don't really understand why there is so much intensity by some posters behind this transfer he is a relatively obscure player form a very obscure league who hasn't played competitively since the 8th of december and is going to cost close to £40m and is it really worth spending that much on someone who isn't likely to start and there are question marks over whether he will be able to adapt to the premier league.
