Following on from the bands thread, how about TV shows.

My main one is The Office, cannot stand it or gervais.

EastEnders, obviously.

Britain's got talent. Has it, has it really, put some on then.

This not about any particular show, but the sitcom shows that have a stand-up comedian as the star of the show haven't impressed me too much. Or to be more specific, I think Seinfeld was the weakest link in his own show and so was Ray Romano in Everybody Loves Raymond (or whatever it was) and that show wasn't even very good. Seinfeld series at least had some funny moments here and there, though, but very rarely (if ever) they included Seinfeld himself. Curb Your Enthusiasm proved how unnecessary Seinfeld was to the process of making things funny. Maybe he's a good writer, but as a performer he's got absolutely no charisma and very little talent when it comes to acting. VERY little.

Sweetness, no word of a lie when I saw the topic title the first show I thought of was The Office.

My list, from the top of my head:

The Office

X Factor

The Inbetweeners

How I Met Your Mother

Mrs Brown Boys

Edit:

ALL the ones like The Only Way is Essex, Jersey Shore, Geordie Shore etc... who the f**k cares? Add that Kardashian one too.

Mrs Brown's Boys?? Quite the worst programme I've recently seen, followed closely by the one with the Asian bloke.  Both seem like a throwback to the worst of 70s comedy.

That 70s Show.

Dr. Who.

And there are many award winning shows that people are raving about, that I've never even seen. Walking Dead, The Office, Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Homeland, 30 Rock, etc. Not a clue.

At the moment I see no need to ban anyone for disliking an awesome show.

Although I do like That 70s Show, Val...

30 Rock had it's moments... Tina Fey can be very clever but then let herself down with some pure rubbish.

I hate Mrs brown's Boys!  Am always totally bewildered when I hear people raving about it.

BUT...have any of you ever seen the Jeremy Kyle Show?  I see it occasionally when I am staying with a friend who is fascinated by it.  The most gruesome people appear, screeching abuse at each other.  Old women with huge bosoms hanging out of T shirts that should be worn only by teenagers harangue like fish wives (I always think that expression is very unfair to fish wives, most of whom I am sure are very quietly spoken ladies)

Well, if you have seen the British JK Show, and you think that's bad - the American JK show is  a million times worse.

The other night I couldn't sleep, so got up in the middle of the night to watch a bit of telly.  Put on a quiz programme.  My cat came and lay on my tummy, and promptly fell asleep.  So when the programme changed and the American Jeremy Kyle show came on I was forced to watch it, because the remote control was not in reach, and I couldn't possibly disturb my poor little cat in her sleep.

I am a bit shamed to confess that I found myself having some incredibly fascist thoughts about sterilising all these people so that at least they could produce no more brats to keep their line alive!!

Hmm How I Met Your Mother's appearing on so many lists... it gets a little saccharine at times and the later seasons really plummeted (to the point of the finale being just woeful) but I thought it was at the very least decent early on. Not one of the great sitcoms by any stretch but not bad either.

I agree with a lot of these, though not Mad Men - as with moi I really enjoyed it.

I cannot stand Hollyoaks. The worst thing about it is that it comes on immediately after The Simpsons, a fact I usually forget, which results in a mad scramble for the remote as soon as I hear that bloody theme tune start up.

I also dislike most mainstream American sitcoms. So that's shows like Friends, Big Bang Theory, etc. I never watch them but they seem to be on TV all the time, so it's impossible to avoid them completely.

I don't hate Dr Who but I think adults who watch it probably should know better.

Most of the Saturday night entertainment shows are just complete and utter sh*t.

Tired, past their best panel shows like Mock The Week and Have I Got News For You that should be killed off and replaced with something new, preferably featuring contributers who can actually be arsed to make an effort.

I could never get into Seinfeld, but I really enjoy Louis CK's show.

First 4-6 seasons it was legend.... Wait for it.... Dery...

But after that was a bit like pulling teeth

Where to start.

Soap Operas

X Factor

Britain's Got Talent.

The Voice

I'm a Celebrity..

Dragons' Den. I used to like it but it's now run its course.

Reality TV Shows.

Big Brother.

Friends,

Cheers,

Top Gear.

Have to say I don't watch a lot of TV. Make an exception for nature programmes and historical documentaries. I tend to listen to the radio or music more than I watch TV.

Spot on, although I reckon Mrs Brown's Boys should be on a list of it's own. Utter garbage aimed at morons.

Also just about anything that's on ITV2 and anything Miranda is in.
