The history one is so laughable, really have to quesiton the intellecut of people suggesting it.

The small club one is even weirder, okay lets say we are small... whats wrong with being small?  We've won 5 titles in 12 years.. it's terrific being small.

Haha where do you work mate? If you don't mind my asking.

I'm not gonna say for fear of incriminating myself posting here during work time! :laugh2:

It's Leeds City Centre though.

The history arguement is a favourite of teams who aren't as good now as they used to be - Liverpool and Arsenal.

You don't hear United fans saying it as much as those two sorry mobs.

The use of the small club, no history and plastic club insults towards clubs such as ourselves and Man City shows a massive inferiority complex from those who throw the insults without willing to admit it

I don't count the CS as a trophy... I don't rate the LC and the EL that high. This season was ok with those wins though and it got us back in the CL. I was at the game last night and when the ref blew the whistle I felt some sort of a relief... Mostly that we're back in the CL which will help us strengthen the squad which imo isn't good enough. Even without European games and all those cup games we wouldn't have been able to challenge you...

When reflecting over my feelings I felt somewhat annoyed at myself for feeling a relief over "easier" transfer dealings and CL next season rather than celebrating winning the EL. We haven't really won that much post SAF, but I still feel like I did during his reign.

Wonder how them gooners feel now? :laugh2:

I think the EL win is only significant for you lot at this stage because it brings you back into the CL. I think Jose will now be expected to challenge for the title next season if you have as big a summer as I think you will.

The history argument comes out because fans are jealous, let them be jealous it's means your club is usually doing great ::ChELSeAFaN::

Interestingly, I've never seen United fans use the "history" argument. Maybe because they were also winning titles while we were. Funny. You only remember "history" when your present day is sh*t.

They confuse two different things: history itself and historical success (in terms of trophies) which are of course completely different. You have to be pretty special to do such a thing.

By Robbie's logic, Notts County have no history...despite being the oldest football club in the world.  Haha. Ludicrous. Oh, and Arsenal were only formed in 1930 as opposed to 1886 as they won nothing for those first 44 years. Similarly, the 9 recent years when they won nothing can also classed as a period of 'non history'. Absolutely nothing happened and Robbie didn't attend one game in that time. Idiot.

I'd rank the comps like this (but I am happy when we win anything):

1) Premier League - this is the bread & butter

2) Champions League - I don't think it's what it was (maybe because we have actually won it now) but it's still a massive competition that I'd love to see us win again. It's second to the PL though.

3) The FA Cup - one of my favourite competitions and I honestly hate seeing other teams win it. It's the best of the others.

4) Europa League - Higher rated than the League Cup for sure. But again now we've won it I don't think I'd care to see us in it again, unless we were having a bad few years and it brought us back. It's a good competition to win though and is another route to the CL.

5) League Cup - another competirion I love but only when we're in it. While I'll still closely follow the FA Cup all the way to the final. If we exit this one early I'll only get interested when the semis hit. It's usually the one final of all the competitions that delivers though.

6) Club World Cup - I want to see ha win it because we never have. But in the grand scheme I can't imagine it would be very strong in the memory in years to come even if we did win it.

7) Super Cup - nice to win but not a major biggie if we lose.

8) Community Shield - Same as above but even less memorable.

I agree with your rankings with one exception.

If a club has won a couple of premier leagues or more the Champions league becomes the no.1 obsession.

Arguably we saw this with Leicester this season with average performances in the league yet really competitive in the CL.

The History thing is so laughable it wasn't even bandied about until we started serially winning things. What makes me laugh is all teams have history, they do it's just some teams don't have the history of winning a lot of trophies like others. It's one of those pathetic things like when people call us plastic etc. f**k them there hasn't been a team more successful than us in the last decade let them swallow that bitter pill.

History... Any of you guys ever heard "5 times la"? :laugh2:

Perhaps we need some vocally creative types to reply with a modified version of Brian Ferry's or Roxy music's Jealous Guy.

Bogga! You're a United fan right? How do you feel about your teams season as a whole?

Acceptable... We won the LC and the EL we didn't concede many goals but scored way less than I had hoped for. Saw glimpses every now and then of some hopes for the future. The most frustrating thing was our major inability to kill off games which resulted in all those draws.

But in all honesty our squad wasn't good enough to challenge on all fronts. Hopefully we'll be able to strengthen now that we can offer CL

I think you had a succesful season but disappointing in the league. End of the day though you achieved your objectives through another trophy. I know I'd rather win the EL than finish 2nd-4th with zero trophies.

I think you wil mate, think you'll spend big. Next season gonna be very interesting.

Hopefully... If we get some of the names being thrown around.

Yeah, we've been ridiculed about our 6th. But just as you say, rather that and two trophies than 2nd-4th and nothing.

West Ham's history finished in 1980

Leeds - 1992

Everton - 1995

Sunderland - 1973

Southampton - 1976

Newcastle - 1969

Forest - 1990

Crystal Palace and Fulham don't actually exist.

Ipswich Town -1981

Blackpool -1953

Every football club has a history.

The ignorant ones who claim other clubs have no history or the 'Where were you when you were sh!t mob' really just show themselves up for their lack of respect and football knowledge.

Good points Erskblue and I believe everything is cyclical and some of those clubs with glories in the past may yet resurface in the near future.

After all it took Chelsea 24 years to win a major trophy again.

I get why Liverpool supporters would only want to consider winning a trophy as being history. They're still trying to forget slippy g costing them the title!
