erskblue
Davie Cooper, ‘Big Doug’ and Bobby Russell. 1982 Scottish Cup Final. Two of the three above were skilful, thoughtful footballers. I’ll leave you to decide who…😀 Edited May 22 by erskblue Boyne
Boyne
5 hours ago, erskblue said: Nutshell. Genius of a player. Can you imagine him and Wee Pat playing on either wing for Chelsea! The other teams would have just put a white flag up! Would have been great to see them both play for Chelsea but Davie would never have left Glasgow and the surrounding area. When Chelsea played Rangers in May 1985 to raise money for victims of the Bradford City fire I hoped that Davie would play but if I remember correctly he was injured. I think that only played together once or twice for Scotland but could be wrong. Edited May 22 by Boyne erskblue
Boyne
On this date in 2005 the helicopter changed direction. If you know you know. I couldn't watch the game as was too nervous. Went for a walk instead. erskblue

Boyne
I read that Scott McDonald is a Celtic fan although you wouldn't believe it by the way he celebrated. But if you have a job to do. erskblue

It's ridiculous that Pat only played 28 times for Scotland and Davie only 22 matches. Given their talent they should have played more. erskblue

Given their talent they should have played more. Totally agree. Davie Cooper didn’t have many great seasons when John Greig was Rangers manager from 1978-1983. He did have some great patches of form. This to be fair earned him a couple of full Scotland caps early in 1979/80. It was the return of Jock Wallace in Nov 1983 that ‘kick started’ Davie Cooper again. He was back in a full Scotland international shirt within four months of Jock Wallace returning. Then the Rangers (and Scotland) supporters saw just how good a player he was on a consistent basis. This was when Hearts unexpectedly lost at Dundee and Celtic won 5-0 against St Mirren. Celtic winning the title on goal difference. A bitter blow to Hearts and their supporters. Remember seeing the pictures in the papers. Of course 1986 was a good year for Scottish football when a certain Mr. Souness arrived at Rangers. Then of course I'm biased! erskblue

A few of my cousins are Hearts supporters and have never forgotten that day back in May 1986 at Dens Park. The most surprising thing apart from that last day was that Aberdeen didn't the title and so make it three titles in a row and a domestic treble in 1985/86. Another crazy decision by the football authorities back then, not to show our Final v Real live in 1971 The Scotland v Wales match on 24th May 1972 had an official attendance of 21,332. erskblue
27th May 1972: Scotland v England and an official attendance of 119,325. About 98,000 more in attendance than who’d watched the Wales match three days earlier. England won 1-0 – Alan Ball scored the goal.
Backbiter
Shameful snubbing of Wales by the Scots. We had an all-star team back then, featuring Mike England, Ron and Wyn Davies and Terry Yorath. Edited May 24 by Backbiter

No quarter asked or given and sometimes quality football would break out.😀
