erskblue
Wales v Scotland in Oct 1977 and May 1977. I actually had that Wales ‘admiral’ strip shown in the picture above! Quite a rare sighting in the West of Scotland in 1977!,😀 Edited May 27 by erskblue Boyne

Gordon Smith was a very decent Rangers player, but John Greig didn’t particularly rate him. Edited May 28 by erskblue Boyne

erskblue
Scotland 0 v Brazil 1, 30th June 1973. Brazil's Jairzinho controls the ball on his chest watched by Kenny Dalglish (left) and Sandy Jardine during the match at Hampden Park. The Brazilian goal, was an O.G. scored by Derek Johnstone! The date of 30th June looks a bit of an odd date for this match to have been played on. The Scotland players would have been on holiday for most of June, due to the domestic season finishing in early May and the Home Internationals would have been completed a week or so later. Pre Season Training was likely to have been starting a week later. However the SFA I’m sure would have been delighted at the takings from the 78,180 crowd. All eyes of the 78,180 spectators in the crowd are on Paulo Cesar during the above match. Edited May 29 by erskblue Boyne

For some people Gordon Smith is best remembered for that miss in the 1983 FA Cup Final. A shame as he was, as you say, a decent player. erskblue

Don’t think there was any tv coverage of either replay. Gordon Smith scored the winner in the March 1978 League Cup Final v Celtic. He joined Rangers in late August 1977 for a £65,000 fee from Kilmarnock. In his first season he scored 24 goals for Rangers.
