He is bang on the money there though regarding the comparison between black and white players in the media. The way the media (well Daily Mail) portrayed Adarabiyo for buying the house as basically undeserved while Foden is labelled basically as a king for buying it. It borders on racism. Even when Sterling does shopping, the media always pick up in it and seems to have a dig at him. He gets so much abuse and I think the media have influenced this quite a bit. All his off-field lifestyle is scrutinized by the media. Sterling has done so much for his local community etc but you won't hear of it until he buys the next expensive car.

He has hinted that it was racist abuse yesterday but just seemed to ignore it. People asking why he did not react, he suffers so much abuse all the time and he just chooses not to react any more. Anyway that is only one little scum that blighted a very good day.

Even if he did, that doesn't diminish the nastiness of racial abuse. Surely you're not saying he has no right to complain about racial abuse?

Guns crime is often associated with ‘black communities/gangs’. They wouldn’t have made a big deal if it was, for instance, Jordan Henderson who wouldn’t have got it.

I suppose it is seen as the intention, is the intention to cause emotional hurt by using someone's colour and ethnicity as part of a verbal attack?

Awful fan if proved to be true, and like you I've heard nothing on the audio. But note how Lineker actually stopped the MOTD show last night to make a grave announcement, I thought someone had died, he stopped it to announce that a Chelsea fan is racist and there should be punishment.  Ian Wright nodding solemnly in the background.

Seriously, they are working hard to make sure the anti-chelsea narrative comes out even when we get good results.

Imagine if their beloved Liverpool or Spurs had beaten City (which neither did) we would be hearing about it 24/7. What did they say on MOTD last week when the "I'm not racist I'm a Greek Cypriot " Spurs fan threw a banana at Aubamayang ? f**k ALL.

Racism is a vile part of our culture, even in this day and age. And unfortunately still a massive problem in football, no matter how much you want to pretend it's not. I'm married to a mixed race woman and have two wonderful mixed race children, and even people I know and who know my family still come out with racist remarks without a second thought.

I know there are some in here that want to believe that what happened on Saturday might have been a misunderstanding, and indeed it may. But until the investigation by the Police and the Club has been concluded, it's probably best we keep and open mind and remember that until this vile abuse of players at games (not just racism) is stamped out, there is always going to be this focus on abusive fans!

Just to add though, this is a common occurrence at all football grounds in this country, not just ours, no matter how much oppo fans and pundits may like to believe it's just a select few.

I’ve nothing but respect for Sterling for the way he has handled this.

If those blokes have shouted anything even vaguely racist, f**k ‘em. I find it pathetic that grown men are screaming abuse at players anyway but if they’ve stooped to racism then the club is better off without their support.

I'm in no way trying to diminish the unacceptable and frankly neanderthal behaviour that has been highlighted here. I would, however, say, that the vitriol, whilst fully understandable, does seem to be coming towards the club almost with a gleeful level of over reaction from some quarters within the media

Raheem Sterling wasn't the only black player abused this weekend. Hell Sterling wasn't the only black player abused and highlighted nationally in the media this weekend. A cracking young 22 year old lad, that i had the pleasure of managing as a youth player, Christian Mbulu, who is now a pro at Motherwell was also racially abused this weekend.

Abhorrent behaviour, despicable. Maybe i am just a bit overly sensitive as well, that it feels like its another oportunity for the media to undermine our club.

Obviously racist behaviour at any level in society should not be tolerated. At the risk of sounding naive I would be surprised if fans at the Bridge expressed rascits sentiments.

I remember a time when rascit comments at the Bridge were common place, things have changed a great deal for the better.

The thing is even if it is discovered that no rasict comments took place the damage has been done. I’ve already had mates of other clubs texting me saying Chelsea are rascit. If proven guilty then pursue the strictest punishement. But if innocent I bet the fans in question will receive no apology.

Making a stand against rascisim is crucial but let’s actually find out what was said here.

Like has been said, if he did say anything racist, then ban him, he'll get everything he deserves.

Sterling's comments were pretty vague though. It's hard to tell if he is saying that this guy did say something racist or if he is complaining about how he is treated because he's a black man.

We are a very FREE society!  Free not to be abused for our colour, creed, gender or sexual orientation.  Free not to be attacked for being different.  Free to live our own lives within the law, and to know that those who choose not to do so will receive retribution.
