Stand by what I said about him in the Sarri in or out thread. Win the Europa and he deserves a second season.

Big deal we made top 4 by default because United, Spurs and Arsenal could barely manage a win between them. What was it 1 win, 3 draws and a loss in our last 5 somehow managed to take us to 3rd?

We are not Arsene Wenger, making the top 4 is not like winning a trophy. He SHOULD have achieved top 4 because of how appalling Spurs, United and Arsenal have been in the league and we did, limping all the way. Spurs have lost 13 matches in the league for crying out loud!

As Jezq8 pointed out lets not forget those displays of no passion, no effort, no guts from the team.

He AND the players should be on trial in the game against Arsenal, win, by any means necessary and then ok another season for Sarri, a new deal for David Luiz etc etc. If not Bye bye sarri, no new deal for Luiz, Giroud el al.

the only problem I have is the heavy defeats that occurred during the season with our ridiculous defending which seems to be suspect.

6-0 city

come on - Don Maurizio was helping his buddy Pep with GD so they be on top of Liverfools if those two were tied at the Top of the Table

I'm completely torn..
Results... deserves his job, possible 3rd above spuds, LC final and a European final is good going after completely changing the way we play.
Gut feeling...  Lacks any positivity, doesn't inspire, terrible with the fans and media, oh and still plays Kovacic !!

Very sad to say won't be disappointed either way

Wrong about Mourinho, Carlo and Conte ? If they had stayed regardless of players throwing toys out the pram, owner that thinks he’s God and fickle fans. Perhaps we could have had a lot more in the trophy cabinet. I reckon the only reason Sari still has a job is because the powers that be are prohibiting the owners entry into England.

Putting the football and results aside for one moment, I have to say Sarri seems such a cheerless f**k. Hardly ever a smile, still doesn't remember half the players names (OK I accept, could be a language thing), and with permanently negative body language and a face like a slapped arse, just looks like he is hating every minute of it. No wonder his man-management skills are being questioned.

He has come across as completely classless at times this season and that has reminded me of Benitez at his best and Jose at his worst.

He handles the press reasonably well and doesn't make silly or snide remarks, ok he's thrown the water bottle around a few times angrily so at least he is not devoid of emotion.

I've no problem with him smiling or not as he is here to win matches not to charm us with his personality.

His remarks about CHO on his England debut were absolutely stupid.

Haven’t read through all of the thread so maybe going against the grain a bit. I find his football boring and awful to watch, hate it. I want some attractive attacking football, I want some passion and aggression, I want something to get me out of my seat when I watch Chelsea. Sarri’s football more often than not just sends me to sleep (could be an age thing). I really don’t think a few extra players are going to do that much for entertainment.

In saying all that I suppose he has achieved CL football and a couple of finals so probably will do another year but if I was living elsewhere in the  world I wouldn’t be setting my alarm to get up in the middle of the night to watch us.

If he does start next season I can’t see him lasting till Christmas, hope I’m proved wrong and his results make that impossible.

The other question would be who to replace him, I haven’t a clue, maybe Howe should be given a go at a bigger club with better players.

I’m not a fan of the guy, I think the football is awful.

But if we win EL I don’t think they can sack him. That doesn’t change my mind on not thinking he’s right for us long term though.

This is basically how I feel too. I think it's a minor miracle that we got into the top 3, we certainly didn't earn it by playing well and I don't think Sarri should be praised for it. We massively relied on teams around us having a collapse, a collapse that I have never seen in the Premier League before. I don't think it's right to praise a coach for being less sh*t than the others in the final 2 months of the season. A lot of our league performances have been embarrassing, some of them have been worse than anything we have ever seen in the Premier League. The 4-0 loss to Bournemouth and 6-0 defeat to Man City were the worst performances I have ever seen in my time as a Chelsea fan. Then you have the pathetically poor derby performances against Tottenham earlier in the season and Arsenal a few months ago and the string of terrible to watch football matches throughtout most of the season.

The Europa League, we have achieved the bare minimum, I thought exactly the same when we had Benitez. Our opposition has been very weak throughout, probably on par with the teams we faced under Benitez, and if we hadn't got to the final, it would have been a failure.

The League cup was Sarri's biggest success. Overcoming both Liverpool and Tottenham to get to the final and put in a very good performance in the final against City, even if we didn't get the win.

Because we have achieved top 4 and got to two cup finals, you can't really fire the guy, he has probably met the targets he was expected to meet, but at the same time, I don't think we have made progress under Sarri. I don't think we look better than Conte's team last season, and with a transfer ban hanging over our heads, I am seeing nothing that convinces me that he can make the squad of players he has perform any better unless he makes big changes to his approach, which is something he isn't capable of doing. With Hazard expected to leave and if we can't make any signings next season, then I don't expect us to even compete for top 4 under Sarri. I think we will be very easy to beat.

If we can make transfers in the summer, then I'll give him another chance, but if we can't, then I think we will be terrible next season under Sarri.

I wonder if some decide to support Sarri just because they don't like the Sarri-critics and don't want to admit they are right.

I can't imagine anyone watching the game against Frankfurt and thinking "yes this manager should lead us next season for sure".

We have gotten much better lately according to some of them, and yet we have won one out of our last five games. You can believe we have improved, but it's still nowhere near good enough.

I keep going back to how little time Sari had to work on anything prior to the commencement of the season. From players returning late from the WC to not being involved with the initial pre season it was staggering

When he did eventually ship up decisions about players out on loan had not just started but many had been put in place then he was faced with somehow trying to get the likes of Morata to up their game play.He also walked into all the nonsense surrounding Courtois.

Lets face it our squad is unbalanced but several players for me have improved as the season has gone on and the emergence of RLC and CHO is a type of success we haven’t seen for many a year.

Some point to his comments about Higuain. To be fair to Sari there is no way realistically he could, would or indeed should say much different in public.

So for me one more year is justified but to go longer would mean a  new contract and that may well be a bridge too far

I think the Sarri supporters expect things will improve next year football wise. We don't think this is good football.

I don't think we are playing in the Sarri style now.

I think we've improved. We are more aggressive and direct than earlier this season, we defend better. But we aren't close to where we could be if the players truly learn what Napoli were doing and we don't string a good performance together for 90 minutes

I could be wrong, if the transfer ban is lifted and we play like this next may, I will probably change my mind.

People say we have got better but not in my eyes, mind numbing dross is what I call it.

I’m man enough to admit I was wrong regarding Sarri, I thought we were in for a treat.

God help us next season with this clown in charge.

What is there to suggest we will all of a sudden start to play the Sarri way?

We looked good for two months to start the season. Since then we have seen no progression but unfortunately just got worse.

He's been here close to 11 months now. That is plenty of time to put your stamp on a team and while he certainly has done that its one thats not good enough.

With the club having now secured a place in next years Champions League it could be argued that Sarri has been successful. If the club win the EL it could be argued that he has even overachieved.

Given the current circumstances are the "Sarri outers" wrong?

I was never a Sarri in,  simply not good enough, he's rabbit caught in headlights when big in game decisions need  making, I was wrong last Sunday though when I said I suppose he deserves a second season as we got top four, but after his antics on Thursday night when  the second half display of team and his management nearly cost us, I'm convinced we made top four in spite of him not because of him, keep him next season and be prepared some more horror performances and him admiting he can't motivate players.

Come June thank him, and part our ways.

Getting top 4 with our team is not an achievement.  It just isnt, the squad is very good, just missing a top striker IMO.  But i stand by my initial thoughts, we have gotten rid of other managers for the same, and the fans still aren't on his side.

The football is on the whole absolute pony, but i'd give him one more window to see if he can get us playing "his" way.  After 60 games it has not sunk in, so i hold little hope overall. People still forget he has never won a single pot and you can see why at times. Playing nice football is not what its all about, its about trophies and winning.   I like the guy and would like him to succeed, but his stubbornness is what will lose him his job.  He is also poor at changing tactics/system 'on the fly' - everything is like for like

To go Sarri In because we got 3rd and EL final is incredibly fickle... look at the bigger picture.  That is still not really enough for a club like us.... mental as it sounds.  I am more Sarri Out, but i think he will get another go simply because I think the board may consider top 4 an achievement given some of the results this season and dross football.

I think that's where the disagreement is. In my view playing two games a week means it's difficult to stamp it in fully.

My view is that we have been improving. We've been more direct and more aggressive. We've gone from showing sarris style for 20-30 minutes, to 45+ minutes. We've been creating chances that should be put away. We should have beaten United Burnley and Frankfurt away, we made enough clear cut chances to win those games (Burnley we shouldn't have conceded 2).

My view is that with a pre season and a couple of purchases, the football will improve. Your view is that we need to get a manager who has achieved nothing (coming 6th in championship is nothing, 2nd in serie a, cup finals and top 4 in PL is at least something) and spend 200m on players who play a formation and style of football that worked 10 years ago.

I'd rather we take our chance next year with a manager who has delivered us two finals and a top 4 and see what he can do next. Generally teams playing this style improve in a second and third year.

I think this is not fair to say at all.

The squad isn't really that great, all other top 4 teams have more world class players and all of them have better strikers and better back up strikers on their benches. So getting top 4 is an improvement from last season, that's an anchievement all things considered, ffs we got top 4 playing without a striker that's worthy of Champions League football.

Sarri came and changed our system, we looked weak in defense for most part of the season and we look clueless in attack most of the time, even so Sarri got the result and deserves some credit for it because our goal wasn't to compete for the title but to get Champions League football.

Remember that last season it was a gap of 30 points, Man city had 100 points and we had 70, now they have 95 and we have 71 with 1 game to go, Sarri might not be the long term solution but this squad can't do much better than this so we shouldn't sack Sarri when he actually did get us where everyone wanted to end up!

The usual pathetic start to a second half, this manager certainly can't fire up the team with his half time team talks.  Stood on touchline as Frankfurt run circles round us in second half and he had no idea what to do. Simply not good enough as I've said we made top four in spite of him

Yes, that is totally it: despite not knowing you, I don't like you at all, and I don't like your opinions, even though you are ab-so-lu-te-ly right

Disagreeing with you isn't the same as being against you (and others).  Perhaps re-reading some posts here will make it clear the remainers have formed an opinion without considering the leavers.

I think he has probably hit his target by securing a top 4 slot and getting us to a couple of finals.

I just think with Hazard more than likely leaving it is a very important time for us and if we don’t find a way to try and replace the goals and creativity that Hazard gives us then next season will be a tough one.

I’m just not confident that he is the man to see us through this change.

I also think his stubbornness could be his downfall, you could almost see him trying to find a way of keeping Kovacic and Higuian.

If he ends up staying he needs to find a way of tweaking his style for the Premier League not creating an exact replica from a slower, lower standard Italian league.
