Wrong about Sarri?

Sarri is not a top manager. He is light yrs behind Pep, Klopp, Mourinho, even Conte to be fair

Two of those are not in the league, the other two finished above us, do you pick cherries for a living ?

I wonder if some decide to support Sarri just because they don't like the Sarri-critics and don't want to admit they are right.

I can't imagine anyone watching the game against Frankfurt and thinking "yes this manager should lead us next season for sure".

We have gotten much better lately according to some of them, and yet we have won one out of our last five games. You can believe we have improved, but it's still nowhere near good enough.

That just gives absolutely no context to the point I made as I'm guessing the first line on the last paragraph was partly aimed at me.

When you are trying to build a completely new playing style you have to look at more than just the results in isolation. We win 1-0 with no shots and a last minute own goal excellent we have got the points, 3 ahead in the table but in terms of the building process a step back.

In terms of our build up play and speed of play, massive strides has been made since the winter period. Back then we were moaning because we couldn't create anything, now we are moaning because we keep wasting chances which suggest more are being created, we seem to move the ball a bit faster aswell. Now are we perfect? Nowhere near but it's to be expected, awful first half against Watford fantastic second, very good first half against Frankfurt crap second, crap game against Cardiff, excellent Vs West Ham, we are an inconsistent team right now and we are going to keep flip flopping from the good to the to the bad probably for the next year as we aren't building a results now project any more.

Also Napoli weren't actually that good to watch in Sarri's first season, they had similar games to some of our worst this but they had one major advantage, they had Gonzalo Higuain in the form of his career, we haven't had that luxury.

Now I have far from been blindly supporting Sarri and around February time I started to have doubts for these two reasons.

Squad management

Capiluating after setbacks

(I'm not and wasn't too worried about his supposed lack of flexibility regarding formations, changing formation on the spot being a good thing is an urban myth as Unai Emery is proving, all the top managers have a chosen formation and stick to it largely)

Both those faults he's improved on since then, he's rotated well in this run in and has only really overplayed Azpi and Jorginho while the last month or so we have reacted a lot better to set backs.....

Cardiff, Burnley, Frankfurt, United all points won from behind (well not points in Frankfurt but you know what I mean) something that would never have happened a few months back, heck even the response at Anfield after two down when Hazard hit the post twice was a positive in the grand scheme of things.

Now am I totally 100% convinced with Sarriball? No, but all things considered he deserves the benefit of the doubt, especially if the alternative is reverting back to pragmatism a way of football which is slowly dying a death at top level football, hence Mourinho's fall from grace.

Being an armchair fan I see very little apart from youtube highlights, MOTD and the odd streaming (I don't do sites where I need to download anything)  where I do see all the match. I also read the on-line reports.

I agree on us being boring the first part of the season yet we seemed to change after Feb and look exciting recently with RLC in midfield.

Could we be better, yes, yet not with the squad we currently have, it needs to be done in the summer probably using some of our loanees assuming the ban sticks.

No major improvement then he goes next season. If we do it before, we just look like a club with no patience and it will put off other coaches from getting involved with us in the future.

The usual pathetic start to a second half, this manager certainly can't fire up the team with his half time team talks.  Stood on touchline as Frankfurt run circles round us in second half and he had no idea what to do. Simply not good enough as I've said we made top four in spite of him

I'd be quite happy to replace Zola rather than Sarri if motivational half time team talks is the issue.

People are saying our football has improved as the season progressed, I must be watching a different team!

Then again I’m not a football connoisseur unlike our Sarri........

stop being a div. He is not a top manager and they were the ones i could think of in a quick few seconds.  I'd have Poch before Sarri, too, and he could finish below us.  mmm cherries.  90% of the fanbase do not want him and the reasons are almost all the same.  Whether those managers are in the league or not, theyre both managers we have sacked, (wrongly in some cases) and yet people wnated them sacked but to give Sarri a second go?   Just absolutely odd.

Like i said on paper what he has done it deserves a second chance, but at our club, it doesnt

Closely re-watch a game back in December-Febraury that's not Huddersfield at home and then closely watch a game from the cup final onwards that isn't Cardiff City or Slavia away then you'll see why me and others are saying so.

Also makes me laugh the ones desperate to shoot down anyone wanting Sarri out, are the same ones who never even touted him for the job post-Conte.   You'd Never heard of him until he got linked here

I think this is not fair to say at all.

The squad isn't really that great, all other top 4 teams have more world class players and all of them have better strikers and better back up strikers on their benches. So getting top 4 is an improvement from last season, that's an anchievement all things considered, ffs we got top 4 playing without a striker that's worthy of Champions League football.

Sarri came and changed our system, we looked weak in defense for most part of the season and we look clueless in attack most of the time, even so Sarri got the result and deserves some credit for it because our goal wasn't to compete for the title but to get Champions League football.

Remember that last season it was a gap of 30 points, Man city had 100 points and we had 70, now they have 95 and we have 71 with 1 game to go, Sarri might not be the long term solution but this squad can't do much better than this so we shouldn't sack Sarri when he actually did get us where everyone wanted to end up!

If this squad had a potent goalscorer, it'd have nailed top 4 long ago.  It's a top squad in areas and any manager with half an idea of football could/should have got top 4 with it.  Im not saying if Pep or Klopp had the job theyd finish 1st/2nd  but they'd have us much closer than we are.   They're tactically better. Its that simple

The ban will be lifted by CAS IMO so we will see if the club give Sarri 'his' signings or make their own.  (itll be the latter i suspect).  By xmas he will be gone, thats me being realistic knowing our club

No one has any problem about people wanting Sarri out, everyone's entitled to their opinion. What gets people's goat is the extreme mental gymnastics that have people trying to spin even his positive aspect into a negative.

Pochettino came into this country a national hate figure and his first season at Spurs makes Sarri's season here look like something from Pep's Barca.

Poch should be the poster boy lesson against judging too soon.

I think sarri has done a decent job personally at the start of the season my expectations were a top 4 finish and hopefully a trophy. We are confirmed top 4 and still have a chance of a trophy. I think overall he has achieved right on expectations and deserves another season, there was plenty of people prepared to give morata another chance so why not the same for sarri. Remember people klopp and guardiola didn't exactly set the world alight in their first seasons but how quickly that's forgotten. Let's all just get behind the team whatever happens. KTBFFH

Thought we played well today but finishing let us down. If we can sort that out we could be in good shape for next season.

No idea how we sort that out. I look back to a couple of years ago and wonder how we didn't buy aubamayang.

One of few Chelsea-managers that's managed to suck the joy out of watching us. We just look extremely dull, effortless, boring and all in all we are just quite similar to Wenger's Arsenal at their worst. Which is what everyone in unison would have hated to see before we hired Sarri, but that some seems to be content with now that he's managing us. Which i struggle to wrap my head around.

What makes it worse is we helped fund that move by buying a striker that Arsenal wanted to get rid of.

Because you are trying to see only negatives

We are nothing like Wenger's arsenal. We are one season into a project to change our style of football.

I am looking forward to the day Sarri wins a big trophy with us and you and wallosh still find something to complain about.

How long is it supposed to take? His contract is out in a year so his time is running out.

Conte changed our style of football in a week and won us the league the same season.  Sarri has had a whole season now to "change our football" and so he has. My opinion is simply that's he changed it into something underwhelming as i described.

And i hope he does. If he turns us around and wins us the league or CL i'll take my hat off for him. But i don't think he'll last to the end of next season even if he stays past this summer.

This decade alone i would rank 10/11, the AVB part of 11/12, 15/16, and last season as worse to watch us, by quite a distance aswell.

All managers responsible for the seasons you've mentioned here lost their job btw.
The only season out of those we were much worse was 15/16. All the others are very much comparable.

Conte is the past. That style of football worked for one year, then died on its arse. Because it wasn't sustainable and it really wasn't very pretty when we started to be found out.

If we had that years Costa in this set up, we would be doing a damn site better than 73 points as well. We'd have won today comfortably, we'd have beaten United at their place.

Just be f**king patient and see how we do next year and stop carping on, it's embarrassing when we consider the two teams ahead of us had worse first seasons when their "project managers" took over.
