All of us want to win trophies, none of us want to see us compete in the championship. If you do, then what are you supporting.

But some of us can accept it if we don't. Of course I wouldn't want to see Chelsea relegated but as someone who's seen them relegated three times in the past I would still support the club not sure you would.

I was born in 88 and supported Chelsea all my life. I don't really have a choice.

I'm not going to support a board that makes awful decisions but that's not going to change my love of Chelsea. Some people confuse the two to show off.

What?

Didn't mention Sarri. He is in the past, I'm over it. I'm onto giving lampard time and I suspect you won't be willing to give him that if the football isn't to your liking after 6 months.

I responded to someone saying they'd be happy with mediocrity for a couple of seasons because it was good in the 80s.

1) tickets are too expensive to be happy with mediocrity

2) I think if we sit in mid table for 2 years, we will sit there for 5.

I didn’t say i’d be happy with mediocrity for a couple of seasons because it was GOOD in the 80s. It was really sh1t in the early 80s.

Some of us were there and the team were crap, we as fans were treated as sh1t by most clubs, but we spent a lot travelling all over some really crap places, watching an awful team at times.

I think some fans who weren’t around then don’t realise how bad it was. Especially the threat of violence, not just from opposition fans but also from plod.

Remember how far we have come, from a relegation bouncing team to serial winners. I said a couple of seasons, rebuilding, due to transfer ban, and blooding the youngsters, all getting behind the team, like the lads in the bad times did, isn’t such a bad thing.

The cost of a season ticket to me is not an issue at all, I don’t have one any more as work travel means I would miss half the games, so pointless.

I really dislike it when people say "it was worse in the 80s"

It cost f**k all to attend a game then as well. Everything is relative. The 80s are in the past.

If the club is going to be happy to be mid table for 2-3 years, what do you think the match going fans will think - I imagine they won't go anymore (when it's £60 for a ticket). What would our sponsors think? We won't get much TV revenue either. We could completely collapse as a big club. No guarantee we will ever compete for trophies again.

Maybe that's ok. But I'd rather we beat Tottenham most seasons than trade it in for an away trip to Grimsby.

Who gives a sh*t about the sponsors, I don't wake up on a match day worrying about our sponsors, as for match going supporters not going at £60 a ticket if we turn sh*t, there probably not the supporters we want anyway.

Regarding the 80's the Chelsea in that era who won f**k all, but are fondly remembered a lot more than the present day team will ever be .

Be honest with them, we didn't go to watch the footy back then, it was a whole different World, it was pure tribal affairs.

I wonder what the fans who weren't around in the 80's would make of those days, unless you were around for games like against  Millwall or Sunderland Milk cup semi final you will never know.  How Times have changed.

Football was the sideshow, i was only a teenager and i remember the army like feeling, marching to and from the away stations with police escort, without actually getting involved in the combat side, i would be the kid at the back singing "Chelsea are back" ! :laugh2:

I really can't apologise for not being old enough to go to football matches in the 80s. I liked going to Chelsea more in the 90s than today, so I imagine I would have been happier in an atmosphere and not the library that the bridge is today where I get nothing back when I try to make a bit of noise.

Missed my point much?

Look if we are in the Championship and tickets are £60 a match, I'll go just as much as I do now. Not much, mainly take up the cheaper cup games and one or two league games. Because I can't afford it. Neither can most people in their 20s and early 30s.

There's a reason the bridge is tired, boring and a library now. It's full of old farts who can afford the ticket prices. There's a reason the atmosphere was great in the 80s, because people like @coco could go regularly as a teenager.

Teenagers can afford to go to Chelsea, tickets are less than £20 for under 20's east lower,  season tickets are half price for under 20's, MHL season ticket works out £20 a game.

You comment on the 80's something you know nothing about more or less saying it's irrelevant like football only started in 1992. And then you blame us for the bad atmosphere at the Bridge and call us old farts your a real charmer mate. Give me the 70's and 80's any day rather than the greedy, grasping, sanitised pc version we've got today. We've done our bit it's up to the youngsters to provide the atmosphere but they'd rather play on they're XBox's

That's enough from me it's time for my afternoon nap and my packet of Werther's Originals.

Give me the flipping 70s and 80s too. I'd have loved it. I could have gone every week in my 20s like I did when I was a kid in the 90s. I never said anything bad about the 80s! Or at least nothing that wasn't true.

I already said, those in their 20s can't afford to go to games. That's not an opinion, it's a fact. The ground is older. That is why the atmosphere is stale. The youngsters literally aren't there to provide atmosphere

I hope they don't drag his out now its official Sarri has gone. If we've got someone lined up, it needs to be announced.

Yes, people are acting like we already have Lampard but the last time I checked we haven't even approached Derby.

I think we've recieved word from Lampard's agent that he will jump on the opportunity to come here as soon as we make that approach. Which i assume we did today.

It was widely reported that we would not let Sarri go before the replacement was secured so i believe we are close to confirming Lampards appointment.

Great. Then what?

Your youngsters would be in creating an atmosphere, 20 year olds can't afford to go? Is bollox, most live at home these days and have loads of disposable income, trouble is they have other things they want to spend their money on, and are of an era now, where watching it in the pub is preferred.

Will make my week if the news is announced.

I presume now Sarri has left, we can say the Sarri Cult has been laid to rest, and the bullsh*t words Sarri ball are finally redundant.

Tbf like i said earlier it was two different Worlds then and now. No messing about with tickets back then, just rock up to the station/ground with a few quid, virtually zero planning, most games were just off the cuff.

Why do people always use the word literally out of context. Jamie Redknapp's favourite word someone who could string passes better than he can string sentences.
