Norwich vs Chelsea (PL) Sat 24th Aug 12:30 GMT

Recommended Posts

Tough game but a full seven days rest and with some new options for rotation.

I'd go with:

Kepa

Azpi - Rudiger - Christensen - Emerson

Kovačić - Kante

Pedro - Barkley - Pulišić

Michy

Won't happen tough

Doubt we will see CHO or  James as neither played last night in the PL2 game although Bats and Rudiger did... Bats got a double but missed a hat full of chances.

On another point, Guehi, Castillo, Maatesen and especially Anjorin played very well.

I would like to see Michy start upfront

kepa

azbi christensen zouma Emerson

kante jorginho kova

pedro michy pulisic

we need a win as the longer we go without a win pressure will start to mount

CHO is back in training today but I don't think he will have much chance to feature in the starting lineup until after the international break. I also doubt Reece James will feature until then too, although both may be on the bench. Rudi is more likely though with his experience.

Lots of posters talking about getting Reece and CHO into the team. Any team needs a mix of youth and experience but having Reece, CHO, Mount, Pulisic and Tammy swings the balance too far. That's too many. Christensen is only 23 and Emerson isn't much older. We need to accept the squad needs experience at this level.

This should be a fun game. Norwich is pretty open and like to play, so there should be room and space to run through them. I could see this one being a high scoring game, considering we are pretty loose at the back too. If we get another 40 minutes of dominance on them like last week, really must put 2-3 past them. It's not impossible to maintain that kind of fast pace football over 90 minutes, like Lampard admitted we must be able to adjust, cope with the pressure and have more composure, expect to see some improvement in that regard. I reckon a 4:2 our way , although a cleansheet would be nice.

With potentially Rudiger back and eager we could look more solid at the back, i hope Norwich can't cope with our pressure and we convert our chances. Doubt this will end in a goalless draw tough haha.

CHO trained in full at the open session today and didn’t look off the pace at all. Seemed very sharp in drills and mini match.

Rudiger also looked in good shape. Giroud was very on it.

Limited stuff on show though as Lamps is wary of spies as we know...

No Pedro or Kante training. Maybe just a rest for them?

Kante and Pedro off to a super secret shooting practice with Drogba perhaps??

Could Rudiger play right and Azpillacueta left? I think Rudiger's played there before. Emerson's doing well but we need to be more solid until the team & returning players are fully match fit.

I wonder has Frank considered Drinkwater (Edit - I'm a bit fcking slow. Point still stands about the formation and a more orthodox defensive midfieder)  in the DM role with Jorginho and Kante in a 3 possibly? He played ok in the games I saw pre-season, maybe give him another chance. Jorginho's passing further up the pitch should create more chances.

For this one I'd go with Mount, Adoi (if fully fit) and Giroud but there are 7 players for those 3 poitions, only 1 of which you know what to expect when they're in the team.

Early pressure, nice football, score a sweet goal.   Then please keep the momentum going and capitalise on it. 4-0 Chelsea 🍺

Kanté apparently out. In which case:

-------------------------------------Kepa

Azpilicueta-----------Christensen---------Zouma-----------Emerson

-----------------------------------Jorginho

--------------------------Barkley-----------Kovacic

------------------------------------Mount

------------------------Batshuayi-------------Giroud

This might be the first time that I am ready for the international break for the sole reason of potentially RJ and CHO returning from injury. With that being said, hopefully Chelsea can get the 3 points and start to build momentum for when the injured youngsters start to come back. My team for Norwich:

                                 Kepa

Azpi              AC                         Zouma                    Emerson

                           Kante      Jorginho

                                  Barkley

Pulisic                                                                  Mount

                                   Michy

Subs: Kova for Jorginho,  Tammy for Michy, Pedro for Pulisic/Mount
