Chelsea v Southampton (PL) Thurs 26th Dec 15:00 GMT

Be a real shame to put in such a display against spurs and then play this one like we did Bournemouth.
Stick with the formation but rotate some players as we do have Arsenal after.

Kepa

Rudiger
Zouma
Tomori

James
Jorginho
Kante
Alonso

Pulisic
Batman
CHO
I like that starting 11. And totally agree we could very well face this one as the "easy and not that important" match between London derby's. Just realized we once more face a team with a brand new manager in Arteta in that Arsenal game.

Hope our lads are in a great mood and really go at Soton.

I reckon sticking with the same formation, maybe James in for Azpi, Pullisic for Mount just to fresh up the team a little. Southhampton is in better form than we played them last time, and they may just make it difficult to play football  like other teams recently.

Good choices particularly if Azpi injured.

equally could go with Jorginho Kante pulisic in the middle in 4 3 3 setup

Something i noticed against the spuds and really liked was that kepa reduced the amount of time he was pasing to his centrebacks and went long at least 70 percent of the time. We have a great target man in tammy and should be using him more often instead of the stupid possesions we have in our defensive side of the pitch. I really hope Jorginho coming in for Kova doesnt send us back to that useless routine.  I would go for a 3421

                       KEPA

            RUDI    Zouma    Tomori

James      Kante   Jorginho     Alonso

           Mount          Willian

                  Abraham..

Hopefully Frank makes early subs to rest players.

PULISIC AND BARKLEY   for mount and willian after 55 mins

Wouldn't a sane person return from Portsmouth return with a hatred of all things Portsmouth? Not that I"ve ever been there, but those southern coastal towns invoke a a sense of desolation with me.

Living between the two and working in Pompey I feel I can say with righteous authority that Southampton is full of c***s and Portsmouth is lovely...... in the summer😶. f**k Southampton, and all their fairweather fans who couldn't be arsed when they were in league 1.

For Mount and Willian to receive better service upfront, both Kante and Kovacic must always play because they cover a lot of ground from the defence. They are very good with quick counter attacks, Jorginho is slow, he's not very strong, he cannot drive forward, he stays on a spot and he is trying to pick passes, he's passes are very predictable, it's very easy for the opponents to defend against Jorginho than against Kovacic. Kovacic losses two, three or four players with his excellent drives forward, and he therefore creates easy chances for willian and Mount to score goals upfront.

That's the secret of this new system.

We'll beat you this time!

Now on a sensible note. We're on a good run but have been playing the teams around us, you can beat the bigger clubs but not doing great at home to clubs from lower down recently!

So who know?

It's proving a bit of a problem for us at home, but you'll have to put in your best performance this season and hope we don't get any festive luck to get any points. Merry Christmas.

Chelsea being Chelsea we’d normally make this kind of fixture hard work - beat Spurs away only to then stutter at home to a team 4th from bottom. However, for me, not this time as players and management are fully aware our Bridge performances have been under par and will want the result/performance from last weekend to carry on and mean something.

Normally not this confident but predict we’ll win comfortably.
