MHedges Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 I love it, talks of a nine-year contract and maybe an option to manage at the end. [web]http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/chelsea/6608103.stm[/web]
TT Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Is it just me, or is JT getting a bit ahead of himself ? "9 year contract" and "option to become manager" No wonder the contract negotiations have broken down. Is he also asking for a clause which will gaurantee that he is the highest earner for the next 9 years do you think ?
Liam Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Is it just me, or is JT getting a bit ahead of himself ? I thought it was a joke when I was reading it. Surely he can't be serious. I love Terry. He is my favourite Chelsea player by a long way and in my top five of all time. But I don't see him as management material at all. He's not the brightest as far as I can see. And he'd only burst out crying if things didn't go his way.
Valerie Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Liam, it WOULD be you posting a crying JT Shouldn't he be getting his badges first and gaining some managerial experience before trying to manage a top team?
ethicalstrategy Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 It's the usual press bollocks. I was watching the interview last night with Gabby Logan - it was very relaxed and informal. He said that he did want to be a manager when he packed in and that he would be taking his coaching badges. I took what he said about his contract to mean that he wanted something in there which would give him the opportunity to stay at Chelsea for the rest of his playing career and then go into the management side with them after that. I don't think he meant that he was looking for a clause that would make him first team manager when he retired I see that there is also a piece claiming that he is calling for Beckham to be in the England squad - actually, he said that he would still have him in the squad if it was up to him but that it was McLaren's choice as he was manager. It hardly constitues a "call" for Beckham!
SydneyChelsea Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 How long before he is linked with a sensational coup to undermine Mourinho and take on a player/manager role?
mad_mac Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 DOn't see it happening, maybe a number 2 role for him like steve clarke, but not as our main man. And a 9 year contract? Bollacks, no player should be given a contract that long at his age, no matter how much we love him, it is the club above all Scott
g3.7 Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 maybe the issue is that he wants to manage us in 9 years time and the club want him to manage from tomorrow?
Lofty Posted May 1, 2007 Posted May 1, 2007 Well if we are going to have a new manager, right now I think Jose can count himself lucky that his pay isn't performance related, otherwise there's a fair old possibility that he'd owe the club money.
sweet waffle Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 According to our good old friend The Sun, he won't be here much longer. hahaha what a load of b*llocks. [web]http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2002390000-2007200412,00.html[/web]
bonetti Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Hopefully he will follow Wisey's example and go and manage Leeds into another demotion
