Not really what I wanted to see from us, we actually made City favorites at our home.

Our counter attacks didn't work, we failed to create something in 45 minutes. I'm not sure how long it can be played like this, but City will grab their goal in the end.

We need to add more creativity and play much more faster and direct forward.

This game is tough because we made it like this, let's try to beat them up in the second half and then kill the game once again.

COME ON CHELS!!!

Hmmmm.

Alonso is having one of THOSE games today.

Disappointed by the midfield, those three should be more than capable of doing a lot more against this City side.

Kante and kova look off the pace, no energy losing tte ball. Nothing like their normal selves. Jorgi is having a good game.

I would get Kai in for kova

Team just needs to play better and have more belief.

We are being swarmed as expected by a fresh City side with 6 midfielders.

The entire team is just not as sharp today, passing slow, first touches are all not on point.

Need a huge galvanization by Tuchel to come out fighting

Can’t really see us winning if we play the same way in the second half. I don’t expect us to play rings around city, but I’d like to see us play less conservatively and try to take the game to them more. Although he’s not been in the best form this season, I’d like to see Mount on, to provide more of a link between midfield and attack.

edit - didn’t realise Mount is injure. f**k.

Mount is not even on the bench, he's injured

Mount has been awful all season though. This is just what the 3-4-3/3-5-2 is all about, 5 players sat in defence.

I agree about Mount but he is best equipped to pressure Rodri and connect our midfield with our attack. I wont mind bringing on Ziyech in the second half. The ball just keeps going back to city once we get it and there is no point in having 2 strikers if u dont have the personnel to assist them

Why play the ball forward when you can play it sideways or back? Midfield has been awful and Alonso has been pressed as soon as he gets possession. Defensively we have looked sound though if we carry on in the same vein sooner or later we will get breached. Ironically there is lots of space behind City's defensive line  all we have to do is hit it with quick passes.

We need either Kante or kova to do break the press and connect to the front. This what Mount has been doing for us since last year. He was struggling last week, tbf he has been struggling lately.

If thry can't get away from their press, imo we just need to plau route one football. Push alonso up high and kick the ball to him and Lukaku.

Another game, another crap first half.

Really struggling to progress the ball from our own half, certainly in the method we usually do. City are pressing remarkably well, and have been effective at stopping us from getting the ball out wide. Losing James is certainly going to affect our ability to create wide overloads; the Christensen/Azpilicuet acombination aren't nearly as good at it.

It does feel like we're missing Mount, who is usually so good at bringing the ball into attack (especially in transition). On the other hand making that change (presumably Kovacic for one of Ziyech or Havertz) would almost certainly be to the detriment of the press in our own half.

I'm glad I don't have to make that decision, especially as we've stopped them from creating any meaningful chances. Good luck Tommy Boy!
