So that’s Kennedys replacement sorted.

I wrote off Kennedy's Chelsea prospects after watching one YouTube highlights video, but Andrey Santos's highlights make me want to take a deeper look at his performances. Unlike Kennedy he looks a good player in his highlights. This does not mean Santos is Chelsea ready, but it does mean I think that comparisons with Kennedy are off the mark.

Someone wrote in the comment section of that youtube video that he looks a bit like Ramires. But I think he might have an even better technique.

Just a little joke from me, but seriously if we are to buy up all these young talents at least one of them needs to make it into the first team or it will be a massive disappointment and waste of money.

Considering we’re supposedly looking to buy a couple of central midfielders to go straight into the first team (and I’m guessing they aren’t going to be in their late 20s early 30s) what are we going to do with all these new young players?

Not necessarily, if they're not quite good enough to make here but good enough for a sizeable profit to put into our transfer kitty then that's a win aswell.

For example I don't feel Chukwuemeka will ever make the grade here as anything higher than a squad player but I also feel he will have enough upsides to attract a £30-40m offer from Everton or similar.

You might be right but I can’t see all these lads appreciating in value rotting in the reserves.  Aren’t the new loan rules restricting the number of loans to 6? That rules out firing up the loan army again.  Maybe why Boehly is thinking of buying another club.

I've now seen all touches videos of Santos and I will be neither super excited if we get him, nor depressed if we don't.

Couldn’t find if this already had a thread but we are close to signing this lad. I know nothing off him or if he’s any good but just thought I would share.

Reported by Fabrizio Romano that we have beaten City and Newcastle to sign him.

More importantly, beaten Barcelona.

Beaten Barca to a player? Give over!

Another young midfielder eh?

Hopefully one of these young players we are targeting will turn into a star. Building the team of the next decade rarely works. Reality is most will end up in the loan system. As for Santos, it should be noted most of the clips available are showing him in Brazilian Serie B.

I hope it's actually proper scouting vs merely picking up an alleged next big thing.

Piazon comes to mind immediately.

Piazon, Kennedy, Wallace, Nathan, Cristian Cuevas, and Pato.  Some superb South American scouting over the years.  Feel I could have done better using football manager as my scouting tool.

Even if just three work out that will be a result, especially if the others command decent fees to help aquire "now" players.

Last time we got Courtois out of it and would have got Salah and KDB too if we didn't abandon the plan for Mou, while the one's who didn't quite cut it like Lukaku basically helped fund new signings (infact I'd go as far as saying Rom basically funding Diego Costa is up there with the best business we've ever done).

If three work out it will be magnificent. Main thing is that you at least break even and hope one turns out to be a gem.

Some inspiring summary points on the lad.

Andrey Santos:

- Brazilian central midfielder
- No significant weaknesses
- Similar style to Jude Bellingham and Romeo Lavia
- Very good technically, physically and defensively
- Often pops up with a goal
- Considered top 3 talents in Brazil, alongside Endrick and Vitor Roque https://t.co/fnFBCaguw6
