Maksimov
He wanted 1000 career goals, and now he's got that record: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OYiht4jhfPQ The video has the 1000th goal as well as some of his greatest goals.
loz
Is that Romario's count again - you know where he counts all goals in friendlies, exhibition matches, jumpers for goalposts and beach football?
BackInBlue
One of the best strikers I've ever seen, probably the best ever 1vs1 against a GK.
Maksimov
And to think that Brazil played him and this fella up front. Fearsome duo. Even though Brazil played a more defensive style in 1994, these two made sure the goals kept coming.
Guest
I actually thought Brazil played their best football when Dennilson came off the bench at that tournament.
BLUENUT
Is that Romario's count again - you know where he counts all goals in friendlies, exhibition matches, jumpers for goalposts and beach football? Exactly! Has anyone got his official stat's? Excluding all the 'jumper for goal posts' matches.
loz
Not to hand Bluenut but I did read an article that states at least 200 of his goals were scored in junior or non-competitive games! Still a quality striker in his day though.
Maksimov
To be fair, there have been similiar claims about Pele's career goals total too. A genuine record or not, Romario is one of the all time greats. Not up there with Pele, but a great striker nonetheless.
glory55
All those goals he scored against the garage door All the goals that went in off the washing line........WHAT A SCREAMER!! Great player!!! His record is a non-sense though!!!

According to this, he is counting youth-team games, friendlies, testimonial matches - so in actual fact, he is nowhere near 1000 goals.

Much like Romario, Pele's 1000 goals total includes army matches, testimonials, exhibitions, pre-season tournaments and the like. The sort of matches only a Liverpool fan would include! Makelele
Romario is a conceded arsehole...my little nephew tried to get his autograph at the airport and he refused, what a prick!

That's quite interesting. Romario has scored more goals than Pele when only the goals in official matches are counted. I've seen documentaries and read stories about football history and Pele's 1000+ career goals are always presented as an official world record. I wonder why...I mean, he was an exceptional footballer even if he didn't score over 1000 career goals.

SydneyChelsea
Romario is a conceded arsehole...my little nephew tried to get his autograph at the airport and he refused, what a prick! In marked contrast, he actually shook my hand and had a little chat in albeit broken English... I agree that he is conceited!
