loz Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 01 Cech 20 Ferreira 33 Alex 06 Carvalho 03 Cole 21 Kalou 05 Essien 08 Lampard 10 Cole 14 Pizarro 07 Shevchenko Substitutes 40 Hilario, 12 Obi, 13 Ballack, 22 Ben-Haim, 24 Wright-Phillips
Tim Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Interesting line up. 4-4-2 with Joe and Kalou on the wings, or 4-3-3 with Joe completing the midfield 3? Great news Petr is back, but I hope he is genuinely 100%.
callista Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Usually at Stamford Bridge they are not our bogey team at all only away. Villa have taken the game to Chelsea from the get go and we need to respond in kind. I know that's stating the bleediing obvious but come on guys!
Pauly Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I hope Ballack is fit coming on after 25 minutes... looks like a mistake to me early...
undertow Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 lamps off injured. it's just getting better and better...
munichblue Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Who's the brain behind the idea that Kalou is a midfielder with defensive tasks?
Tim Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 f*ck f*ck f*ck. We are getting crucified by injuries at the moment,

sweet waffle Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Villa have taken the game to Chelsea from the get go and we need to respond in kind. Seems to be par for the course at the moment. We've become very slow at getting out of the blocks in recent games, the same thing happened last Xmas as I recall. Too much festive cheer maybe. Let's hope Ballack can be a difference maker today.
houstyiscool Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 super frank off...last thing we need, our goal scoring threat dwindles by the minute...cmon lads !!!!!

Ballack has been sitting around for the last four months or more earning £130K a week - he had better be the difference today or I want him to pay some of the money back! We'll scrape through we always do with a goal from either some crass error of the opposition or a great piece of skill from our team. It's usually one or the other.
Gem Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 We'll scrape through we always do with a goal from either some crass error of the opposition or a great piece of skill from our team. It's usually one or the other. Well thats one mighty fine jinx!
sweet waffle Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 2-0. Maloney I must say I'm not too enamored with our bench today, it's seems our strength in depth has long gone.
Gem Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 2-0, looks like a Cech error? Game over. No Drogba or Lampard, we're not playing well... and we've lost our home record. Oh well, Villa are only our bogey team away from home after all. Roll on January!
houstyiscool Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 2-1 shev penalty, zat knight sent off. I wonder of Cech is fit ?
Enrico Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 And might I say Ballack's looked f**king great so far. Continuing where he left off in the Pool Carling Cup game...
Tim W Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I heard weeks ago that Cech has a back injury and is only 80% fit
Pauly Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 tough to say Tim- It was hip bruising if i'm not mistaken? Ballack is already our motm for his 20 minutes there, and i think how attacking the side he has picked is only now reasonable that villa are down to 10- Pizarro was chasing maloney for the 2nd goal for god's sake!
Englishman Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 We've been poor. But we're back in the game and they're down to ten men so we can still nick something from this.
Dubai_blue Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 Come again you guys? Ballack has been clumsy with his first few touches of the game, That pass to joe cole was the only peice of quality he produced... And, he milked that tackle... Smart play or a blatant dive? you guys decide... We r fortunate to still be in this game... roll on the abuse...
callista Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 We've been poor. But we're back in the game and they're down to ten men so we can still nick something from this. Lucky lucky Grant, seems he will manage to get something out of this despite a poor first half. I bet he would have been sweating at half time if he had gone into that dressing room 2 goals down. With Villa down to ten men surely we can now turn this around and even sneak a win? Not sure we deserve it based on the first half showing and was it reallly a red card? It gives us a lifeline and that's the main thing and if Ballack keeps playing well then who knows what we can do? O'Neill must be fuming.
The Moos Posted December 26, 2007 Posted December 26, 2007 I must say that the red card was a bit harsh. I've seen incidents like that been rewarded with yellow more often than red. But it's good for us. At 2-0 I thought it was all over, but now we have a chance at getting a point atleast. Hate the swedish commentator though. According to him Lampard has been awful/crap/rubbish in the national team and that is the reason why people boo him. F*cking t*at. Finally some points about our team so far. Cech made a howler again. Two this season, what has happened to him? Still, the ball bounced and that might have caught him off guard on the 2nd goal. If not then I might be able to find some other excuse for him letting it in Ferreira. Awful. I blame Grant. Cole. Ever heard of one touch play? He tries again and again to go past his opponent and it's not that successful. Get the ball and cross it immediately. Grant put him up to this? Pizarro should get up the pitch more. I was under the impression that he's a striker, not a midfielder? Is it his choice or can I blame this on Grant? Sheva. Stay in the centre! Don't play as winger. Especially not since our other striker apparently is a midfielder. Grants fault. Drogs out, JT out, Lamps out. Our so important centre line is gone for the first time(?) and I wonder if we can cope without them. Finally. Grant still look like s*it.
