Posted January 12, 200817 yr Anybody else think Arsenal are showing signs of bottling it ? Everyone in the media has fallen in love with Arsenal this season. Now Chelsea have gone through an absolute horror of a first season injury wise, but some how with all the injuries and suspensions we still grind result after result.Over 2 years unbeaten at home. If Gallas hadnt scored against us we would be level on points with Arsenal @ 48pts. If this was a horse race we would be coming out of the final bend on the tails of the 2 leaders, absolutley breathless & not a drop of sweat on us.
January 13, 200817 yr Agree, I think the Arse were under too much pressure, and f**ked it. It shall continue (hopefully) for the rest of the season.
January 13, 200817 yr Anybody else think Arsenal are showing signs of bottling it ? Wouldn't be the first time...
January 13, 200817 yr It would be a right kick in the bollocks for the press if they did not to mention their fans.
January 13, 200817 yr I have been saying this a couple of months ago, theyr non-scoring ability from last year will come back to haunt them sooner or later.
January 13, 200817 yr Now, ManU on the other hand... Yes... Once they get their hands on that first spot, which they now have, it will be very... very... hard to catch them.
January 14, 200817 yr Author Now, ManU on the other hand... Yes... Once they get their hands on that first spot, which they now have, it will be very... very... hard to catch them. How can you say it will be very very hard ? We are only 4 points adrift & they have yet to play at fortress SB (Over 2 years undefeated). We have only 8 away games remaining, utd have 9. Have you seen the remaining fixtures ? We have easily got a chance of snatching this. The big weekend will be Saturday, 12 April 2008. January 14, 200817 yr Grants MOTD interview - he didn't even know Arsenal had drew Fully focused on his own team - sign of a dedicated world class manager - all hail King Avram
January 14, 200817 yr Grants MOTD interview - he didn't even know Arsenal had drew Fully focused on his own team - sign of a dedicated world class manager - all hail King Avram World class Could have mentioned how we're on their tails and they still have to come here, where we haven't lost for almost 4 years in the league. Could have used it as a tool to phsycologically motivate his own team and the 'syke' Arsenal but he didn't. He didn't even know their result. Very Ranieri-esq
January 14, 200817 yr A member of staff told him the score wrong. What do you expect him to do? Not trust one man to get a score right and seek corroborating confirmation? It was an innocent, and mildly amusing, cock up and that was all. That you are looking to use it as a stick to beat him with is a bit lame in my opinion. In fact I find it odd (in fact I don't) that you seem keen to focus on something as trivial as this but in the match thread where people are actually discusing a good perfomrance and a good result you offer nothing. DOes it hurt to just admit that maybe Grant got something right or was that more Jose steam we saw out there?
January 14, 200817 yr Well he had been told their result, but the language barrier got in the way. As far as I could tell the conversation went along the lines of: Interviewer: Arsenal were held Grant: (to off screen interpreter) held? Interpreter: they drew Grant: you said they won Interpreter: I said it was one - one Grant: the communication at Chelsea is terrrible As for psyching Arsenal out, personally I think that being so nice to everyone - other teams, their managers, owners, refs - not to mention the worlds richest men is far more scary!

DOes it hurt to just admit that maybe Grant got something right or was that more Jose steam we saw out there? Yeah thats right, blame the bloke off camera. The whole of the MH stand knew how Arsenal did when they announced it at the final whistle. I'd could say he was coy and knew the result all along and was just played dumb, but it never came across that way. He looked foolish. Not using it as a stick to beat him with. I thought we played well, (bar a 15 min spell in the 2nd half) but he came across as a wally in the post match interview. Just saying what I thought. Grant looking like a misinformed wally on national TV has nothing to do with 'Jose's steam!'
January 14, 200817 yr OK so he misheard someone and he saw the funny side to it as I would imagine the vast majority of people did. To turn it into something to criticise for is very much clutching at straws
January 14, 200817 yr Well I personally haven't come across anyone (other than yourself) who thought anything of it other than it was amusing and nothing more than that. In fact a few of the guys at my work (Scottish football fans so no real opinion on grant either way) actually said it is good that he can be human enough to have a laugh at himself and at the media pereption of the club (which is clearly what the 'no communication at Chelsea' joke was about)
January 14, 200817 yr brilliant isnt it. people hammer him for having no character or sense of humour he shows he has one and gets hammerd. hes done fanatastically well since coming in. can you imagine how hard it must have been to come in after a manager like jose? especially with only half a squad to use and the most influential players missing. and yet hes took us on a great run of results. and STILL people are on his back. give the bloke a break and admit you were bloody wrong.
January 14, 200817 yr Author He is so focused on mangaing the team. Just because the whole of England & the MHS knew the Arsenal score dont me Avram should. All managers act coy about hearing the other teams scores on camera, theyre like "who the hell are they" ? Avram came over like he is focused on the job, thats the main thing.
January 14, 200817 yr I'm not totally convinced just yet, but he's been getting good results so far, so I wanna see what he can do with the team. People go on about Grant not having experience about managing a team, but how much experience did Ruud and Luca have before coming to us?

All managers act quoy about hearing the other teams scores on camera, theyre like "who the hell are they" ? Avram came over like he is focused on the job, thats the main thing. All I'm saying is that he missed an oppotunity to put pressure on Arsenal by simpley saying something like 'the difference is only 4 points and they've still got to play here.' Wenger never beat Jose, his record v Grant played 1 won 1. For those who don't think this kind of thing works, Newcastle lost a 12 point lead and the league as their manager becoming a jibbering idiot down to a flippant remark made by Fergie to 'stir things up'. The title of this thread is ''are Arsenal botteling it?'' Avi could have turned up the pressure a bit to find out. Grant could have used the question to his advantage but missed the oppotunity. Thats all I'm saying. I think it's a fair point.
