In recent light of Keegans return to Newcastle, I'm struggling to think of one manager returning to his old club and being a success.

All the ones i can think of have had success first time around but not the second, Howard Kendall being one of them.

Can anyone think of a manager having a successful return to their old club ?

Dont tell me about players returning to manage, as i can think of several of these, Keegan the obvious one, Dalglish at Liverpool another.

e2a: Factfile:

Their are 92 football league managers in England, 87 of those started their reign with their current club after the year 2000, only 5 of the 92 managers were in their job last century, 2 of them were Ferguson & Wenger.

I just read that Keegan is returning to Newcastle & the first thing that i thought of was Howard Kendall's ill fated return to Everton.

Unlike Kendall, Keegan wasn't up to the job previously, i doubt this will last 12 months.
