I went for Deco, just because he seemed the only one in midfield actually trying to produce something and for that cracker of a goal. Cech had a solid, stable game, but all of the saves he made you would expect him to make in any other game. Not to belittle his performance, he was solid as a rock, but without that goal we'd be going home with less than 3 points now.

I wondered last week how we would cope with a team who really hassled us and I hope this is not it, maybe a few were carrying injuries but a midfield such as we put out should not be over run by Wigan.

we missed Mikel and to be honest I would have sooner had Sheva up front than Anelka today.

3 points though and hopefully Scolari will have learned a few things about the Premiership today.

cech for me too his saves today were crucial, he looked today the top class keeper we al know he is, commanded his area well and never seemed to miss anything he went for

Cech got my vote, deco seemed to be playing to wide and not in the middle where he could dictate more, Joe is not a striker and Anelka isn't on that performance

Cech all the way. Was great to see him almost back to his full form. Came and collected a few high crosses which I felt he'd been struggling with recently, and then was as reliable as ever with his shot stopping. His parraying was brilliant too, if he couldn't hold a shot, he would push the bacll into areas where the danger was minimal. Truly a great performance
