Just heard the sad news that world cup winner from '66, has died from a suspected heart attack.

just heard it myself...never saw him play, but world cup winner so will always be remembered...condolences to his firends and family

Always seemed a likable bloke in interviews and when he was manager of Pompey and Southampton. Anyone who enjoyed watching Le Tissier play probably has a lot to thank Ball for as it was him who got the very best out of Le Tissier.

Farewell to another England World Cup hero.

Top bloke, Alan Ball, described by Ossie as:

one of my best pals
It's been announced that the players will wear black armbands tonight at the Bridge.

A sad day indeed. RIP

A girl at work said "is he the tall bald one or the short fat curly haired one???"

Stupid cow.

Some great legends of the game are starting to pass away .

Came across as a really nice man and for some reason he never grew old looking . Still kept his youthful looks .

R.I.P.

It has been announced that David Beckham will arrange Alan Ball's funeral .

A spokesman for the family agreed that Beckham is the ideal candidate as he is a dead ball specialist.
