Where has Bridgy said he is off to Newcastle.

So he is not prepared to stay and fight for his place.

He is Chelsea thru. & thru? (since he come from Southampton you mean) sounds like it if he wants get on his bike the minute he got to fight for his place.

Thought Competition for places strenghens teams? so your saying NO not at Chelsea.

JM has said he wants two top class players for every position.

Are you doubting him?

Seems to me Jose has been right up till now, so why is he wrong now?

chelsea have not gone through all this the last 18 months to put cole on the bench...he will start at lb every week unless he gets injured...where does that leave bridge, sitting on the bench hoping the club have a run in the carling cup? He has england ambitions, but he has no chance of he's not playing every week...he would have lost out on the world cup if he hadn't gone on loan to fulham...sure bridge wants to make it at chelsea, but when the manager keeps buying players to play instead of him, then it sends out a message that he's not wanted so naturally he wants to move on...I don't blame him for that...jose seems to have had a problem with a few players...parker was another he just didn't rate for some reason and I still think he should have had more of a chance to prove his ability at chelsea

Which bring us exactly to the problem we all knew would occur before too long. That it is not possble or feasable to have two TOP QUALITY players for EVERY position. You just cannot keep everyone happy. It's one thing having a sh*t hot player in the starting 11 and having a player as cover who is adequate, possibly even very good. But when you have supposed world class or internationals battling for every position it just isn't going to work. Perhaps if a player lacks real ambition and is just happy to sit on the bench and collect his ?50k a week, then yeah. But the likes of Bridge, Duff and Gallas want to play all the time and that's why we no longer have them.

Just wait for one of our central midfielders to get the arse next..........

Defoe not a regular but still in Englands team.

When Bridgey was a regular at S-hampton and Chelsea, he was still playing catch up to Cole with England.

In my Estimation if they want to earn their mega bucks money they have got to show at leased a smiging of loyalty and fight, not keep running home to mum at the slightest of setbacks.

Jose has done more for this club in the last two years than anyone, (the only one who comes near in my oppinion is Luca, a trophy ever six months of his reign, look what happen to him)

I have every faith in Jose acumen to carry this club still further what ever his decisions are, have you?

So Nibs who do you rate as the tops then? WB or AC

We play so many games now that we are a successful team, we need top class cover, look at us these past two years straching around for a left back because of injuries.

just glad its over 8)
Amen to that.

but this issue has got the itch on me for some reason, just read the threads usually.

We got the worse deal.
We got the best deal under the circumstances.

May be not what we wanted, but do not think we have been shafted on this transfer like we have been on EVERY single one we have since Roman arrived. (that is buying and selling. )
We haven't been shafted a la the SWP and Drogba deals, but that doesn't mean we still didn't get the worst of it. The bare facts are that Arsenal got Gallas and ?5m, and we got Cole. Gallas will improve Arsenal's team far more significantly than Cole will improve ours. In short, this is a transfer that didn't need to happen. Gallas wanted to leave, fair enough, but that's no reason to sell him to our major rivals, who also happen to be cash-strapped and in need of a top centre-half. I still don't think we needed Cole at all, since Bridge is perfectly capable and Cole is only a marginally better player, if it all.

NO...ignore the politics and keep it just to football and we have paid money to make our defence worse and our rivals stronger
How do you work that out?

WE sold gallas for between 11mill. / 15mill (depends on you take of how much arsenal valued AC.

gallas was on strike, he rejected playing for us.

If we never brought AC with a swop arangment with contrary gallas, our defence was down a L/B and a C/H.

So please explain how we are worst off now, than we was before
Gallas bolstering the defense of our rivals comes into it as well.

I don't think that Cole is "that " much better than Gallas, but you know what? Knowing how Gallas has been acting and knowing that Cole really wanted to come to Chelsea makes me say that Cole will perform a hundred times better, so I'm going to go with a "good deal".

I think it's a good deal. Cole wanted to come to chelsea Gallas just wanted to leave. The Terry Gallas partnership was good but was never going to be revived. Arsenal even with Gallas should be no match for chelsea and if they are the problem won't be down to this deal but those that have brought Shev/Ballack to the team and posssibly will serve to unsettle more than just Bridge.Still hopefully that won't happen and Chelsea will go on to add trhe champions league to the premiership title.

I think in all honestly, both Arsenal and Chelsea are better off for this deal. It was a win-win..........Gallas probably never would have played for Chelsea again anyway. He was bringing down team morale and would have walked away at the end of the season for nothing. At least this way we got something out of him, namely Ashley Cole, who may also be a difficult player but at least he wants to play for Chelsea. A.Cole is also a few years younger than Gallas.

Arsenal on the other also managed to berid themselves of a difficult player who also was unlikely to ever play for them again and get a quality signing in return with a few million pounds to boot.

At the end of day, i'd say at best, both clubs won and at worst, neither club lost anything.
I think thats crazy talk.... the fact is if both players where to sit in there respective reserves till seasons end things would have been a lot better for us!!

As it stands we have given arsenal the best deffender in the world and they now have a center back paring that has the pace of a hundred meter final line up not to mention the raw tallent!!

In return we got a left back who at best is margenly better than bridge. MARGENLY better.. and they way bridge has played this season i would struggle to say that.

so to sum it up aresnal have got stronger we have got weaker. To put it another way.

We bent over and let them stick a splinterd broom up are back sides!!

Barak.

Yes arsenal have become stronger, no question.

But how have we become weaker? we had a player who was on strike, Roman had personally tried to intervene but got no joy, so what ever happen we had lost gallas's service's, so we were 1 player down, and a rotting apple in the basket that could have had a detrimental effect on the other apples/players, we needed another L/B urgently, so we get rid of bad apple, recruit a L/B, and we sold said bad apple for between 11 or 15 million.

Conclusion is we have not become weaker as we was already weak, down a L/B & a very versatile player on strike,

So we are neigher weaker or had said broom shove up nether regions.

Valerie.

Yes i know arsenal have become stronger! but what options had gallas left us with?

We sold a very angry and dissatified player for once, for decent money,

so my belief is we have made the best of a bad job, in the given circumstances.

Thing is with that argument you could say Arsenal had a bad apple we helped them get rid of and we helped them solve their CB problem at the same time...ok Gallas was likely to waste away for a year and go for nothing but we got a player we never really needed and gave them 5m to help fund a bigger library.....
