No, i'm saying our forwards aren't very good and blaming our attackers for being poor being down to Jorginho, Kovacic is hilarious. Im giving examples of attackers doing well with Jorginho and Kovacic in the team.
And yes i know we need new midfielders, but buying new midfielders isn't all of a sudden going to make Havertz, Mount, Pulisic and the rest good and able to dribble and create.
It's not going to stop Havertz crossing the ball and it ending up for a throw in. Its nots going to stop Mount over hitting a simple pass. It's not going to stop Pulisic missing easy chances.
It must be said that the football we played under Sarri had several players contributing with goals. Giroud had one of his best seasons with us, Pedro, Willian and Kante too and yes, Hazard had arguably his best season then as well when it comes to the sheer end product.
This is despite us not really scoring that many goals, but at least they did come from the front line players, under Tuchel most goals weren't scored from our attackers but despite that we scored more goals in total in comparison so it goes to show how our style of play has been different under different managers.
We also could see in the previous seasons just how many clear-cut chances our players missed, most famous for that was Werner for example.
So while there is a lot of truth in saying that our midfield simply doesn't produce enough end product, it's also safe to say that some teams that had much more goals scored from their front line didn't need their midfielders to have much assists, Liverpool is the prime example since they had several players that outscored our attackers, Salah, Jota, Mané and so on regularly outscored our wingers/strikers without any significant contribution from their midfielders.
I think that it's clear that we lack a real destroyer, since Diego Costa we haven't had a real striker that could by his own solve matches, meaning a player that gets the ball around the box and that could score from having some space and a defender in front of him. Our players don't beat defenders even when they do get the ball in a good area with enough time and space, the ball goes backwards. Broja got the ball in front, beat his attacker and took a shot that was saved in the recent times and that was very refreshing to see.
Both a new midfield core and attack is needed, that's my opinion.
