Alex Scott

WHen you add in Caicedo for comparison (And Wharton), Wharton seems the better one to go next to him. Caicedo makes far more interceptions, so you need someone with more ground duel wins I think to balance that out, or they will both be trying to make the same interceptions in the same space.

Would be good if you put Ryan Gravenberch alongside those, but the comparison might be difficult as Iraolo hasn't been playing him, hence why there might be an opportunity.

My attention shifts to Koné if Bournemouth insist on being stubborn. It’s just a foolish use of funds given the circumstances. There’s no scenario where we should entertain anything north of £60m for Scott.

At this point, the likeliest outcome feels straightforward: Scott ends up at Liverpool, and we move for Koné. Liverpool, I feel, will pay closer to Bournemouth's asking price, and of course they need a player like him. Not to mention the Iraola fafactor.i would still have concerns over Koné's injury record and to be honest I am very wary of players from Serie A, whether they can step up to the intensity of this league.

Ok this is hopeless, you either don't have the ability to discuss seriously and really engage with what I'm writing or you don't want to. It would just be nice if you stopped misquoting me, but I guess I can't have everything I wish for.

But stupid of me trying to discuss football with somebody who thought Garnacho was the second coming of Jesus (my turn for hyperbole).
You realise a Username isn't an endorsement, right? You're allowed to go and read my opinion on Garnacho on his thread. By this logic i assume the 23 in your username is because you were a huge Cuadrado fan?
Oh and as to Kovacic never being a starter in his entire career... He got voted Chelsea player of the seaon in 2020. Weird that a mere squad player got this award...
Kind of proving my point again. What did we win that year? Sweet f**k all, wasn't it? Kovacic was then dropped back to a rotation player the following season and we won the CL.

Kovacic is a fine squad option.
Both Gallagher & KDH were better options than Enzo who we stuck with instead of.
Alex Scott doesn’t move the needle for this side, neither would Kone or Camara.
Wharton or Gibbs White are both infinitely better options.

Wharton is a defensive liability none of the stat comparisons will show the complete story. If you thought Enzo let people run off him and was slow to track back then you haven't watch Wharton. Unlike Enzo he also pussies out of too many challenges for my liking. This is in a team that for the most part is compact and sits back giving him more protection. I'd worry seeing him in a more progressive side with less defensive cover. While he does possess a great range of passing, you have to have a bit of everything to be successful in midfield. It might be heresy to say on here but I think Enzo is a better player.

Gibbs White is a great player but he's more of an attacking 10 would be completely out of place playing alongside Caicedo.

Personally get a slight twitch on at the thought of our front 3 with Whartons passing ability freeing them up.
Caicedo is there for the defensive side of the midfield two. Wouldn’t want us to be lining up with 5 defenders and then 2 defensively biased midfielders as well, kind of a negative approach.
Gibbs White could become a great ‘market opportunity’ and again with Caicedo it’s the kind of player we’d be strengthening our attack further.
I just don’t see a reason to spend anything on Alex Scott when he doesn’t add anything we don’t already have, Lavia (When fit and I know that’s a big When) is a better player.

If we're talking a Cesc like player I'm all for it but Wharton isn't even close. We don't have a problem scoring its keeping it out at the other side thats our main issue, I don't see Wharton solving that. If we're sticking to the two 10s formation I think we need an all rounder to play alongside Caicedo. Which out of the options available I think Scott is the best.

With Scott I get a similar vibe as to when Anderson started getting linked to a big move and many would look down on him because he 'only plays for Forest' and say similar things like I don't know what he does, he's not that good. Now he's playing for a top team everyone suddenly sees him as the incredible player he is.

With Lavias injury issues we might never find out what kind of player he could be and Im still unclear what he is with him playing so little minutes. He still has potential hopefully he gets over his injury issues as time is running out. We still need an additional midfielder with a fit Lavia in the squad and for me Scott is a different type of player.

With Gibbs White I wouldn't be against it if we are interested in another attacker, but Id worry about Estevao and the forest owner wanting £100m for a backup option.

people often forget Bobby D was a steely midfielder who could and did a lot of defensive work in the middle of the park. can we regen him? or a ballack type? Even Deco had a bit of fire in him. I love a player who engages in tackles and sh*thousery and winds the oppo up. It's one of the reasons I am still a fan of Gallagher. Seeing him get under the skin of our players last season at the bridge was wonderful to see, proper wind up merchant. If the club cant find someone in house, then I want them to sign someone who snarls, snaps into challenges, has no issue with going toe to toe. I just dont see that in Wharton, or much of it in Scott... Brentford look like theyve uncovered a gem... Very much a more creative Kante type if early season form suggests anything.

I don't need the chart (not that that proves anything) to know Anderson is a better player. I was merely pointing out that Anderson was underrated by a lot before his move to Man City. The big team bias is prevalent with most fans.
Anderson was good and the stats showed. Alex Scott isn't that good and the stats show.
I didn't post the stats to show that Anderson was better, i posted them to show Alex Scott is just distinctly average.

The stats that you've selectively picked to suit your agenda? And then rather than pick per 90minutes you use overall minutes as the metric because Anderson played 500 minutes more to exaggerate the difference.

Theres nothing clever about it anyone can do the same thing, look now Alex Scott is better. I could have made it more one sided but Im not trying to push an agenda. I still think Anderson is a better player but Scott is a slightly different profile of a player and a bloody good one.

500 minutes more and creating double the amount of chances and double the amount of tackles. At least Alex Scott can dribble though, that’ll be useful when he’s holding onto the ball rather than getting it into the 3 attackers.

Two decades later and Pep’s analysis of Jack Wilshere seems appropriate for Alex Scott:

Fake quotes now. Nice to see you're sticking to the scientific method of come up with a conclusion first, find the evidence that backs up your claim (fake or otherwise), and discard all evidence against it. What are you a politician? Pointless if you're going to be disingenuous.

Alex Scott is a great player.

Alex Scott is also identical to Mason Mount, injuries and all. Make of that what you will.
