Without Mount's eye for goalAlex Scott is a great player.
Alex Scott is also identical to Mason Mount, injuries and all. Make of that what you will.

I genuinely think they are polar opposites.Alex Scott is a great player.

Yeah I am starting to like him.Based solely on the weekend that James Garner at Everton looks a more suitable player for our system than Alex Scott.
I have been saying that for a while. I also think Gravenberch would be a good fit, but with Szoboslai's injury I suspect that Gravenberch will be playing regularly now. But yeah, I also think that Garner would be ideal and I would be interested in seeing his stats comparison against Scott, Wharton and Camara.Based solely on the weekend that James Garner at Everton looks a more suitable player for our system than Alex Scott.

He was brilliant for Forest before they came up. Contract with Everton until 2030 so i assume they'll want £70m+ for him.Based solely on the weekend that James Garner at Everton looks a more suitable player for our system than Alex Scott.
Alonso is not so experienced a manager that we should assume he has a certain "profile" in mind. He also utilised Arda Guler in a CM position, and played Bellingham deeper than Ancelotti, to have a deep midfielder able to progress the ball on the dribble. While he doesn't prioritise it, he certainly sees that value of a player in that position and in general they are the kind of player that every manager desires.Begs the question of who actually wants to bring in Alex Scott?
Xhaka made sense.
Palestra made sense.
Pep made sense.
Lacroix made sense.
Hell, even Henderson made sense.
When you look at Alonso’s managerial track record, a dribbling‑heavy deep midfielder isn’t exactly a profile he’s ever prioritized. It’s just not a trait he’s historically built his squads around, which makes the push for Scott feel like it’s coming from somewhere else entirely.
Or GarnerWe need a midfielder who can receive the ball under pressure and release the ball quickly into our front 3. A ball carrier seems counter productive to what we need.
Funnily enough, Lavia would be great if he can stay fit next to Caicedo.
To be fair, he did want both Zubimendi and Stiller at Real Madrid. Perez ignored his request for a CM completely.Alonso is not so experienced a manager that we should assume he has a certain "profile" in mind. That said our interest in Alex Scott pre-dates Alonso's signing, IIRC we were first linked with him under Rosenior. I'm guessing it's Winstanley/Stewart as I presume Joe Shields doesn't know that clubs outside Man City also have football academies. It's probably also less of a priority as with Fernandez and Maresca gone, we don't need midfielders to run with the ball and we already have 5-6 forward players who are consistently good at progressing the ball on the dribble - Rogers, Palmer, Pedro and Estevao/Quenda off the bench.
