Alisson Becker

That is excactly how we screwed up in the transfer market last year among others.

"Why buy top class player A when you can buy average player B for half the price"

See Drinkwater, Zappa etc.
I agree we have made that mistake in the past with outfield players. But this is totally different. Alisson is NOT massively better than the likes of Pope, Butland, Heaton etc. It wasn't that long ago that he couldn't dislodge the great Wojciech Szczesny from the No.1 spot at Roma!!

“From what I'm hearing, even if #cfc came in with a late bid now, it's too late. deal almost done with LFC”. Simon Phillips

It's easy to look like a good goalkeeper for a relegation side though.
Mignolet looked like one of the best keepers in the league at Sunderland, Ross Turnbull looked like a good keeper for Boro, Fabianski looked great for Swansea last season etc, etc.

For me it's way to risky. It's a whole different ballgame being the goalkeeper at a top club.

He really didn't!!!!!

I agree with the rest of your post though.

Jordan Pickford also looked good for Sunderland the year they got relegated, and this year in the WC, there were pundits and players alike suggesting he was one of the best keepers in the tournament.

It is also a risk if we buy Alisson, or anybody for that matter. I just don't see Chelsea spending £70 million on a goalkeeper, and personally it is madness

Exactly. For that sort of money you would expect a robot-like keeper who never makes a mistake. You imagine spending that absurd amount of money one one goalkeeper and then he drops a howler. Then makes another mistake which costs you a game. What do you do, shrug your shoulders and say oh well?

On his way to liverpool. Either sarri did not call him or allison did not listen. Ah well big willy it is!

I don't mind settling for a plan B though, as long as plan B is a good player. Drinkwater and Zappacosta felt more like plan D.

What is Donnarumma's distribution like? Not seen much of him, but he looks massive.
Not great yet, but the lad is 19 and already a top class shotstopper and has good command of his box. Reminds me a lot of young Cech. We should use every penny of the Tibo money on him and we'd be set for 10 years at least

Not a dig at you, but that was the plan with Courtois.

Oh i know, but sh*t happens, we've gotten 4 good years out of Courtois, for almost no cost except his wage, and if he leaves it'll be for a hefty sum. If the same happens with donnarumma, so be it, but long term thinking is key, even if it doesn't pan out that way in the end. Also Courtois was a funny one because he was on loan for so long that his family got settled in Spain. Get Donnarumma settled in england and I don't think we'd have a Courtois situation on our hands

BBC reporting a fee has been agreed with Liverpool.

Dissapointed if he was Sarri's main target.

Hopefully we can secure Courtois' replacement in short order.

Liverpool mean business. They needed a keeper, a centre-back and a midfielder, and they've made top signings in all those areas. With their attack, they have to fancy their chances.

As much as I would love him, we did think the same about Courtois as well...

They're still the dippers, though, masters of history and mourners of chickens.  They'll fall short again.

I'm thinking of putting a fiver on Salah going back to being pants again this season.  Then they're f**ked from the front.

I would be happy with butland. Nowhere near as much of a downgrade as some people believe. I believe that if  butland was Spanish/Italian/German then we would be falling over ourselves to buy him as a replacement.
I agree. And seeing as people like Youtube videos these days, here is Butland's.

Not convinced by Butland, he parries a lot of things back into the danger area, like Allison does.

But we could do worse.
