I don't think its right to look at how Carlo played Milan. He did favour a 4-2-3-1, but that shouldn't mean anything here. Good managers will always look to play their formation around the squad that they have.

If we sign Aguero/Pato/Villa, expect to see a 4-4-2. If we don't, which seems unlikely now, then a 4-3-3 will still be on the cards.

In a 4-4-2, we will probably have Drogba and Anelka/Aguero etc. up front. The centre of midfield will have Essien and Lampard with Essien holding to allow Lamps to get forward...something like the Fabregas-Flamini partnership. The rest is obvious.

I really don't see us playing a 4-3-3/4-5-1 if we sign Aguero etc. He'd be in the same situation as Anelka and I'm sure the management are smart enough not to ignore that problem. Even playing a 4-2-3-1 just wastes talent. A 4-3-2-1 formation with Anelka and Aguero playing behind Drogba would work, but we lose width...although Bos and Ashley are probably the best candidates in the world to solve that problem!!

Ancelottis nickname is Carletto and I doubt he means Cuducini...

what makes you so utterly convinced that Zhirkov is as good as ours? Just interested, as in this thread and at least another I can remember you've been pretty confident that he is as good as ours.

If you check the posts you refer to about what I have been saying you will see they were well before the player of the year party Star was at. No one else was privvy to the conversation I had with this person. My conversation was back at the beginning of March.

Forgot to mention the same source told me about Ancelotti back in February which is when I alerted this site to what was happening. If Zhirkov ends up not coming then something very drastic would have had to have happened in the meantime.

You know Gary, after I posted I felt that you had been mentioning this long before Star mentioned his bird getting some info from Kenyon.

Anyway, I know you can't say too much so thank you for what you have shared. I hope nothing much has changed since your conversation, and that we do sign Zhirkov. If at the begining of July we reveal Carlo as manager, and his two signings being Zhirkov and Aguero and then say.....that's all folks we've got our men.....I'd be very happy

Geezer, was it you that interviewed Kenyon? Because I remember a post going something among those lines especially the questions on who are we going to sign without a assured response. Or, I'm messing up the whole story.
