A little bit of redundancy here?

French players are usually smart. That is what I like about them. I mean they play smart football. They don't (usually) play with their eyes closed running down the flank and crossing the ball their eyes closed. That is something we dont see from SWP, Bridge, Sinclair...I think that is an element that makes Arse play successfully year after year...

SWP, hard to deny. I would strongly disagree about Bridge being that kind of player. I think he is selective about crosses he puts in (sometimes too selective to the point he simply won't just try a cross), and more often than not his crosses are quality.

Anelka for me has just one plus point (the obvious one) and lots of possible negatives.

He seems the type whose mood changes depending upon what side of the bed he got out of that morning. If we get the right Anelka it's a good bit of business, if we get the wrong one we've got excess baggage of a most troublesome kind.

As for his nationality being a con - just kidding.

He'll fit in fine with Drogba et al so that should help him settle.

I notice we've not had any criticisms of Anelka from a purely footballing perspective. i.e he has poor control, is terrible in the air, can't finish etc. Is it because he doesn't have any?

So far all the misgivings have been about his personality.
