Ashley Cole to Real Madrid?

Coentrao is not half as good as Cole. By the time he hits his late 20s he may be. But our young full backs appear to be pretty good as well. Why buy a Ferrari for the future if you already have a Lamborghini for the future?

 
coentreo left wing would be great he is a better version of bale, his crossing would be awesome for drogba and torres.

Coentrao is not as good a pure defender as Cole yes, but as an attacker he is way better and much more comfortable on the ball. They are different players and play the game differently. It really depends on what a coach wants. For example, Ivanovic vs Alves is not a good comparison. Alves is the best attacking RB in the world, Ivanovic is more of a tough, shutdown defender. It really depends what you want.

Personally, I take the attacker because a lot of them are athletic enough to match up against the opposing wingers who are typically fast and skilled and then on the offensive side they give you that extra threat. Plus this is becoming the trend in football so we might as well get on board.

This is also a huge possibility. From what I understand AVB likes wingers that track back to taking Coentrao and using him as a winger in a 4-3-3 might be the idea. That way you have Cole to shut down the opposition and Coentrao to threaten the opposition. Would be a very strong left side.

 
Coentrao would be brilliant on the LW for us, big fan of his and plus we already have Luiz and Ramires here so it would be easy for him to settle

 
About as boring as the Neymar rumour. Keep Cole as first teamer for 2-3 more season and then introduce Ryan Bertrand who I think has the potential to be Chelsea and England's number 3 for years to come.

Yeah but we're lining him up to replace Cole, why sacrifice defensive solidity for a few extra assists per year? We should be looking for a true winger, not a wing back who neglects his defensive duties.

 
Now that Coentrao signed for RM does it warrant a lock?

 
Glad this didn't happen. Ashley is better than Coentrao and Bertrand and Van arnholt are good backup. better to concentrate on problem positions ie winger/s & an attacking midfielder
