Baba Rahman - The heir to Ash?

If he isn't "ready" then I'd prefer to see Ola Aina.

Can't believe that Jose saying that his height is the problem. We don't have any problems in the air, we have Terry, Zouma, Cahill, Matic, RLC, Azpi. They are all tall and they're playing in defensive/central positions. Ivanovic can't deal with fast players, high quality of dribbling players, all this happen on the ground and not air.

Well he's not going to grow any taller, so if Jose isn't going to use him, just sell him and get some money back. Then we can focus on really getting stuck in with Ivanovic at RB forever.

 
Just play Zouma as our right back then. He won't do any worse than Ivanovic.

I don't agree with this at all by the way, I'm not really for using Zouma as our right back. So apparently he wants five for set pieces, we could have JT, Zouma, Matic, RLC and Costa. That's five right there.

Ivanovic hasn't been all that great in the air this season from memory, he missed a good header against Newcastle I think? And I seem to recall him almost undressing Van Dijk last match while trying to defend a corner, a foul that could easily have resulted in a penalty.

I don't have any stats at hand but I think we are conceding more goals from open play than set pieces, so maybe we should put more attention into defending open play right now.

I could get on board with that logic if we were doing well with set pieces but we aren't.

Drop Fabregas for RLC and partner him with Matic, problem solved.

Honestly the sh*t Jose has come out with to justify not playing the lad is ridiculous.

It's a made up excuse. Mourinho just wants to keep playing Ivanovic. You can guess the result of the Villa match then.
 
Do not understand why this lad is not given more of a chance. Not seen him play too much to be fair but when i have he has looked very decent & have heard some very good things about him.

Just watched all his touches against Tel Aviv. 2 footed, great first touch, no panicked, he looks set to start.

Fully support Jose... Except in this. No matter how unready baba is he would not be worse than brana.

 
The medics have been tasked with making Baba taller, he's on a course of growth hormones, I hope they know what they're doing.

 
Jose's logic about needing more height to defend set pieces is flawed. If you play a decent fullback, you will avoid conceding some of the free kicks. The only way Ivanovic could stop anyone is by fouling. How many 'giants' does City have? I'm sure they are doing fine without 8 6'5 players on the field.

 
Strange comments from Mourinho. Isn't Marcelo 5'7? You don't need height as a fullback. He's just making excuses so Ivanovic can start every match.
