Berbatov

Berbatov has revealed he want's to win trophies since he is 27 and all. He's not going to win major trophies with whitehartlane.. In that case he should go to Manu which I think he will, but would be nice to have him at SB as well.

I think the probability of him staying at Tw*ttenham is 10%, him going to ManU 65%, him coming to Chelsea somewhere near 15% and 10% somewhere else.

In Chelsea he could win some trophies this year though EPL is an outside chance. He wouldn't have to move to Manchester which is probably on the plus side. He'd probably get paid better here though he says it's not about the money.

OK, I'm finished with my deep analyse on Berba's future.

And now

I wouldn't want B*rbatov!

It was hard enough having to accept Clive Allen as good as he was.

For me......... NO sp*rs player should ever be welcomed at the Bridge and that includes Gus P*yet who enjoyed knocking us out of the League Cup a bit too much for me!!

His attitude stinks and he embodies EVERYTHING I hate about the modern day footballer!!

He is a fantastic player, but too much of a risk!

And has NO loyalty what so ever!!

This bloke makes Anelka look like a saint!!

NO NO NO

CHELSEA will make a £26million swoop for Dimitar Berbatov this month.

The Blues reckon the Tottenham hitman can revive their title challenge.

Manchester United were also interested but accept they will be outbid by Roman Abramovich.

SunSport revealed yesterday the Bulgarian, 26, is ready to quit Spurs.

And that has alerted United and Chelsea, who meet Berbatov’s criteria.

Agent Emil Dantchev said: “If a club that corresponds to Dimitar’s class and ambition comes in with an offer that suits his current club in January, he would like to be allowed to go.”

Chelsea, who trail leaders Arsenal by six points, are desperate to boost their firepower.

Star striker Didier Drogba has been plagued by injuries.

Giants

The Ivory Coast ace is currently recovering from a knee op — and will probably fly out to the African Nations Cup when he is fit.

Meanwhile, Andriy Shevchenko has failed to live up to his billing as one of the world’s top strikers since a £30m move from AC Milan.

The Ukrainian could return to the Italian giants if they come up with the cash.

Salomon Kalou and Claudio Pizarro have failed to provide decent back-up in attack.

And this has left boss Avram Grant searching for new talent in the January window.

Chelsea have been linked with a £10m move for Nicolas Anelka and could fall back to the Bolton striker if they fail with their Berbatov bid.

Spurs supremo Daniel Levy insisted: “We are not a selling club, rather we are building for the future. When we have players on long contracts we have no need to entertain offers.”

Yet Spurs’ fight to hang on to Berba could be a lost cause.

In an interview earlier today with Skysports, Grant said that we don't want to sign a player just to use for two months, that they are looking for players who will be with the club for a number of years. I don't know if Berbatov, or Anelka really fit that criteria. Berbatov is a whinging bar steward, and I truly detest the blokes attitude. I don't think we need to be spending big money on another striker right now after the Sheva debacle ( a great palyer, once, but we paid WAY over the top for him. I can't help but feel Berba would be the same

IF, it came down to him or Anelka, I would take Anelka for a fraction of the cost, and then bring in Huntelaar in the summer

Good points but Drogs is probably off in the Summer to wherever Jose lands (AC Milan?) And we should definitely jettison Sheva + Pizzaro and cut our losses. Willing to give Kalou the remainder of the season to show some consistency but in all likelihood he will not make the grade.

Therefore we can bring in Anelka, Berbatov in Jan with Huntelaar (aka Kezman Mk II) to come in the summer. I don't know he'll be Kezza Jr but he certainly shows no strength and I fear he'll be muscled off the ball easily just like a certain Ukrainian - no, not the one at Ligapool.

This can be Roman's gift to patch things up after enforcing The Cadaver on us.

Happy New Year!

Beratov would be a great addition. I can't see what the problem is taking a spurs player it makes them weaker and us stronger. I'd take ronaldo as well if he was available.

Berbatov is clearly class, but he does lack pace. I'd much rather him than Anelka.

In fact my main question is whether Abramovitch can afford him? If CFC is going to continue to win trophies we clearly need to score more goals. That's not just the strikers but also the midfield/wingers. I'd still like us to swap SWP for someone that can score goals as well as go fast.

In fact that Man City left winger what's his name (xmas cheer in Byron bay has befuddled me) would be a great pairing with Berbatov.

Petrov?

I like him

If it's Petrov you're talking about, I say yes. Quick(ish), technical and intelligent... good player.

I fully expect Drogs to be off to join JM in the summer (along with Lamps) so - with half an eye on next season - I think we should buy Berbatov AND Anelka. Both of them are quality finishers and very skilful players.

I don't believe Berbatov is worth 25 million though. And if that is his going price, I don't see any way that the American owners of united will give Fergie that much money to spend on a striker, when they've got Rooney, Ronaldo and Tevez scoring for fun. Where exactly is Berbatov going to fit into that attack? On the bench, I'd suspect...

If Drogba goes, an attack of Anelka and Berbatov would be very dangerous. And if Drogba stays, having Drogs, Anelka and Berbatov as our main three strikers (selling Shev, Mr. Piz) would be on a par with Man Utd's 3 strikers for quality.

I've always thought Berbatov is a poor man's Zlatan. Well, that's harsh, but they're similar players and I think Zlatan is the more talented. But if we can't have the mighty Zlatan, then Berbatov would do just fine. Because, while I'm okay with him staying at Sp*rs, I sure as hell don't want him going to Man Utd, Arse or Liverfool. (Much the same thing as I - and many other - said about Tevez going to Manure).

Yes, that is actually what I've always thought aswell, but after seeing him score 4 past reading I don't think he is just a shadow of Ibra. Ibra has more talent for sure...He can score goals out of nothing.

Probably far too early to comment so smugly on this, but it would be nice to think that the moment has come, albeit around fifty years late and involving a transfer directly to us rather than indirectly to them. I’m talking, of course, about the long awaited payback for Jimmy Greaves going (because we were not good enough to hold on to him then) and his ultimate arrival at the Lane via Milan. Whilst I’m not saying that Berbatov is anywhere near Greavsie’s class as a natural goal scorer, there would be real poetic justice in Spurs failing to hang on to their one true quality striker, due to them not being a big club anymore, and seeing how they like it. Bitter? You can’t be after our record against them over the last decade or two, but it would be great to have Berba’s best years at the Bridge and, despite a suspect temperament, he plays some silky football at times.

If i'm not mistaken, Saloman Kalou is the grand total or 21 years of age. I think his got a great future at Chelsea and we need to be more patient.

Fully agree Qaz - surely if there is one thing Chelsea fans should have learned over the past three years is not to wtite off a player too soon. Drogba took a long time to show his best, Ballack is starting to look like the player we suspected he was and even Sheva has shown signs of serious improvement - and these are all seasoned players unlike Kalou

The way I see it is this: we are scoring, playing decent defense, and we are within touching distance of the title EVEN WITH all the injuries sustained. I dont think adding a striker, when we have some of the best (or formerly best in the world) will do anything for actual goal output. There is always room for improvement, but right now I think a consistent, creative midfield linkup will do worlds more good for offensive production than anything.

Even if United or Liverpool get Berbatov, I wont be scared. Not anymore than I am now that Liverpool have Torres scoring well, and United have Rooney-Tevez-Ronaldo. All of the above score like mad, so adding one more goal-getter to the bunch isnt going to make the picture that much rosier for either of them.

I don't think buying players "just coz" is the right idea. I truly would like to see what Arnesen could bring to our table. I also don't vouch for buying players just to piss other clubs off

Spot on Qaz. I think he's got a great future ahead of him (but then again, I said that about Carlton Cole!*). Right now his finishing from anywhere outside the six yard box is bad. And he hasn't got the most fully developed football brain yet. But he's quick. Very good with the ball at his feet. Would be a right royal pain to mark because (much like Joe Cole) he can use trickery and a sharp burst of speed to get past most defenders. And, he pops up to score some very important goal for us.

*who by the by, is playing well for West Ham and is their starting centre forward now...
