Why Tom Woodward,(sorry Jones),why not Shirly Bassey?,can't beat a bit of Gold Finger/Diamonds are Forever, plus she wasn't a bad looking sort was she?.
Right, so they can play old songs from the 60s, but they have to be by females, and James Bond themes, otherwise you'll get annoyed?

This is getting weirder.

Maybe Stoke City are now Welsh, what with their passion for singing 'Delilah'?

That's a lot of money! :o

So even though Blackpool were richer by 90 million pounds last season, they couldn't survive in the Premier League for a year. That says a lot. Money isn't the only ingredient to be successful in football!
Also you ahve to remember, when dealing with "smaller clubs" that the bulk of that money probably has to be invested in the stadium to meet the requirements of the EPL.

I think Blackpool ahd to completely redo their pitch and drainage systems, stuff with the stands and trainign facilities plyus dressing rooms etc.

Also you'll probably have a good 5-10million in wage increases/bonus'

As messed up as it feels to say, 90million really isnt that much,...... seriously cant believe I just said that! :shok:

edit: Plus you have to realise that 90mil is a one off investment so you cant invest it as if you were to get 90mil every season. If you invest it all and then you get relegated... well administration is for sure. You need to keep a backup kitty incase of relegation so it doesnt become a complete doomsday scenario.

That last line is spot on. It's the reason why Ian Holloway nearly quit at the start of the season, because Blackpool's board (wisely) refused to give him a massive transfer/wage budget. Given they are from a very small town and therefore fanbase, even the Championship level was considered beyond Blackpool a few years ago. Blackpool competed admirably in the EPL and probably increased their global awareness, but the money they saved by not handing out stupid contracts/transfer fees will guarantee them as a top-level Championship club for years to come.

Plus a sizeable parachute payment when relegated... but yes Blackpool did manage that situation brilliantly; I heard they were all roughly on the same wages (£10k or so pw), cleaned their own kit / boots and what not - saved a lot of money here and there.

I'm glad to see Brendan Rogers and Swansea up in the Premier League - they play some really attractive football and hopefully will entertain like Blackpool, although I can see their home record being a darn sight better due to the fact the Liberty will be a very hostile environment for the majority of English clubs that go there (hopefully we'll be the exception given our links ::ChElSeaFLag:: )

Roll on next year!

Very impressed by the way Rogers conducted himself after the game. Fact remains that he is a Reading lad and probably will always be given his past and you could see the respect for him even amongst the Reading players.

Hope we have a buy-back clause on Scott Sinclair. I have a feeling he'll do well in the PL for them next year as well.

Thats intresting - If scott gets a full england call up (which isn't all that tought these days) will we have to pay the remainder of the money we owe bristol city ? (dont think it was rovers)

I know that the total amount payable was only ever as high as a bout 600k which for us is not a big deal but for a players whos services we have long since dispenced with?

No. Haven't done for a couple of decades.

EDIT: Since the FAW said they'd be ineligible for Europe if they won it.
Right, cheers for that mate.

Something new in the league brings a bit of freshness

Great game to watch and full of passion. They cut to a guy in the crowd when the entire Swansea section were singing, the fella wasn't caring that he was on the big screen, he was just proud to be there. Even when they were up 2-0. You could see the passion in this kid, then the slight embarrassment that he'd been on national tv combined with an uneasy look of " this ain't over yet!"

Unfortunately too many premiership fans these days don't have such an affiliation with their club, nor do the games mean as much as this did to this kid in the stands.

Well done to them, will be good to see Sinclair and Borini next year. I think Borini may move on and Sinclair I'll stay at this level for his career. Also, Swansea looked very young as a team....
