What a lovely place Liverpool is! And they honestly thought he would come back out and finish off the gig ::ChElSeaFLag:: Idiots!

Bottle throw ends Morrissey showMorrissey stopped a concert halfway through the second song after he was hit by a bottle of beer thrown from a member of the crowd in Liverpool.

The former frontman of Manchester band The Smiths recently resumed his tour after collapsing three weeks ago.

During his song, Black Cloud, at the Liverpool Echo Arena on Saturday, the 50-year-old was hit in the eye by a plastic bottle of beer.

The singer said "goodnight" to the 8,000-strong crowd and walked off.

Morrissey had opened the concert with the words: "It's Saturday, it's Liverpool, it's raining, it's perfect", before launching into the Smiths' hit This Charming Man.

But when he moved to shake the hands of fans at the front, the bottle was hurled from the crowd.

When he walked off stage fans burst into chants of "Morrissey, Morrissey, Morrissey" in an effort to get the performance back on track.

But about five minutes later an announcement was made to a chorus of boos that he had been hit on the head and would not be resuming the concert.

Jay Silker, 27, from Mossley Hill, Liverpool, said: "If there's ever a singer who would not take kindly to a bottle being thrown at him, it's Morrissey."

Iain Kavanagh, 33, from Liverpool, said: "Some people were complaining afterwards because he's been in the game for years and he should be used to it by now.

"But he's a 50-year-old man who has just been ill and he deserves better than that."

Concert-goers have been advised to contact their ticket retailer to find out if they will get their money back.

A rare moment for me but Scousers have just gone up in my estimation of them

whys that then? throwing a bottle at someone who theyve paid to go and watch is a good thing is it. i cant wait to see how you came up with that one...

I don't approve throwing bottles at anyone, but "god"...? If he was a god, he'd still make good music. I don't understand how that bitter and grumpy man is thought of as a charismatic performer(yes, I called him a performer, even though he says he doesn't perform). He was part of a great band and wrote some great lyrics, but I haven't been too impressed with most of his solo work.

He was the most important part of the most important band of a decade - that, for a start, gives him 'God' status in music terms.

As for his solo career, i don't think it is anything like the quality of The Smiths material (with a few exceptional songs) however it is really down to personal opinion I suppose as in my opinion his worse solo albums are still better than any album you have ever recommended Maksimov ;)

Yeah Moz has no charisma, ive heard it all now. Anyway im off to buy the new Muse and GreenDay albums...
