Chants of old

To the tune of United States Marines.

On the cold, dark streets of Merseyside,

where the West Hams never been.

Lies the chewed up body of a scouse git,

where the North Stand kicked him in.

To hell with Liverpool.

To hell with Man City.

Coz we'll fight, fight, fight for the Chelsea till we win the football league.

I'd had a top drinking session with some old faces last season and we could all vividly remember the tune and the end of this song, but found we had all developed collective Alzheimers for most of the words. The song was buzzing round my head for the best part of week and it bothered me greatly that I couldn't remember all of it. So many thanks to my friend Bluebeard, and his encyclopedic knowledge of Chelsea in the 60's and 70's, for filling in the blanks.

Anyone know this one..not sure how popular ut was, or if I've been misled, but to the tun of Wet Spam's Blowin' Bubbles

On a Wolverhampton Terrace

In the pouring Rain

A Young Chelsea Supporter

Got a bullet in his brain

And as he lay there dying

Blood pouring from his head

He looked up to the clear blue sky

and this is what he said

YOURE GONNA GET YOUR HEAD KICKED IN!!!

Sorry Just, but my memories of that one are: -

"In the dark back streets of Liverpool,

Where the Mile End's never been,

Lies the chewed up body of a scouse git,

Where the North Stand kicked him in,

To hell with Liverpool, to hell with Man.City,

We'll fight fight fight for Chelsea till we win the football league"

Thing is, there were a lot of different versions of songs, depending on which mob you were with

Another thing, it makes me laugh when West Ham and other w*nkers say that the Chelsea mob were all from West London. The main mobs in the Shed in the late 60's and early 70's were all from South London. Anyone remember this...

"We all come from Stockwell, do dah, do dah,

We all come from Stockwell, do dah do dah day"

which would be answered by...

"We all come from Battersea, woof woof,

We all come from Battersea, woof woof woof woof woof"

CHELSEA :( CHELSEA :) CHELSEA ::clap2::

Ah, the good old days - I want to go and kick f*ck out of someone now, must control myself

Thing is, I don't think it fully fits, I think I'm missing something in the middle...anyone know? And yeah steve, missed out the all important F**KING

I always loved the effect of this one when we'd steam into a mob totally outnumbered...

"We're the mental, we're the mental,

We're off our f*ckin' heads"

Generally, the opposition took us at our word and f*cked off out of it :(

If you don't do the bouncy you're a Y*d

This ring any bells?

"It was in the town of Wolverhampton

Where most of the fighting was done

And a loyal young Chelsea supporter was shot by a Wolverhampton gun

As he lay on the terraces dying, blood rushing out of his head

As he lay on the terraces dying. He turned to his comrades and said:

GET INTO THEM! GET INTO THEM! GET INTO THEM!"

Or, perhsps...

"On a Wolverhampton Terrace

A young Chelsea fan

got a bullet in the brain

As he lay there dying,

blood pouring from his head

He looked up to the dark grey sky

and this is what he said:

YOU'RE GONNA GET YOUR F***ING HEADS KICKED IN

YOU'RE GONNA GET YOUR F***ING HEADS KICKED IN

YOU'RE GONNA GET YOUR F***ING HEADS KICKED IN"

THATS the one I was thinking of.

How about,

Chelsea sing,

Chelsea fight,

Chelsea set the train alight!

That's the one Steve, Cheers. Just thinking about that effin' West Ham singing the real song makes the blood boil!

How about this couple of beauties? Cringeworthy to be honest

His name is Tommy Baldwin and he's the leader of the team.

What team? The finest football team, the world has ever seen.

Weee're the Fulham road supporters and we're louder than the kop.

What kop? And if you want to argue, we'll kill the f**king lot!

Anyone enlightne me to the tune this one goes to...I know it half but would like to brush up.

Same can be said about the song to do with

My old man said be a Chelsea

and then it says

My Old Man said follow tottenham, I said, fu** off, bo**ocks, you're a c*nt

Really hazy on that one too

Also, no one has mentioned the Osgood "Born is the King of Stamford Bridge"

Just made a quick adjustment there, Scott :( Not sure of the tune at all, but it sounds like an old music hall tune

The version I know goes something like this...

"My old man said be a Tottenham fan,

I said f*ck off b*llocks you're a c*nt,

We'll take the Tottenham in half a minute

We'll teke the Park Lane and all who's in it,

With hatchets and hammers,

Carving knives and spanners,

We'll teach them Tottenham b*stards how to fight,

Oh they won't take the Shed when the North Stand's in it,

Cos Chelsea rule OK"

Ah, they don't write 'em like that anymore [sigh]

I'm a little hazy myself, but it went something like this:

My old man said be a Chelsea fan

And don't dilly dally on the way

We'll take the T*tt*nh*m in half a minute

We'll take the North Bank and all that's in it

With hatchets and hammers

Carving knives and spanners

We'll show those T*tt*nh*m bar stewards how to fight

Whoa...

You won't take the Shed with the North Stand in it

Cos Chelsea rule the South.

This was only sung in the 1970/71 season (Keith Weller left soon after)

"Arsenal have Radford, and Palace have Queen,

West Ham have Geoff Hurst and Tottenham Gilzean,

But Chelsea have Osgood and he is the king,

And also Keith Weller, the king on the wing,

KEEFY, KEEFY WELLER, KEEFY WELLER ON THE WING,

KEEFY, KEEFY WELLER, KEEFY WELLER ON THE WING"

Round about the same time...

"Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankly,

Have you heard of the North Bank Highbury,

Shanks said no, I don't think so,

But I've heard of the Chelsea Aggro"

And...

"One day I went to Upton Park,

Singing, singing, Chelsea are the champions,

Singing, singing, Chelsea are the kings,

I saw Ron Greenwood standing there,

All Alone, all alone,

I said to him, 'what's up my friend?',

He said 'the Mile End's run again',

Singing, singing, Chelsea are the champions,

Singing, singing, Chelsea are the kings"

almost forgot...

"We're the boys in royal blue,

We took Molineux"

and repeat forever

Any idea the tune this one is sung to?
