Normally I'd say that you shouldn't leave the game in ref's hands, that if you perform then he shouldn't be a factor and there are plenty of things we did poorly yesterday. We weren't at our best.

But Atkinson had one of the worst performances I've ever seen. Moss against Everton had a good game and gave a lot in our favour so it's not an endemic issue with refs, but Atkinson should be thoroughly ashamed of himself.

He's been roundly condemned and rightly so. When people spend good money to see a match they deserve better than that.
Come on Daze I don't buy that Moss gave everything in our favour at all.

We were also denied a blatant penalty that game, the officiating has been absolutely sh*te with us lately. It has gotten worse since the Southampton away game I think.

The only pict you are missing is that nasty challenge from behind on Zouma. Was that barnes that did that crap too?
Yes. Haven't seen the replay, but my stream (NBC) replayed it and it looked nasty. MotD didn't show it - they had too many other mistakes to analyse.

Mainly because Mourinho didn't mention that one, he didn't mention the minute, I don't know why.

That was worse than the Ivanovic one because Kurt fell down really awkwardly due to that twat kicking him in the air.

When I saw the one on Kurt I did cringe then I became angry because Kurt had no way to defend himself - he was totally blindsided - it was a nasty bit of work there - was that barnes too?

It was indeed barnes, because after the 2nd one everyone on here was furious about it, why isn't the referee doing something about it. He could have been sent off for both of them, both yellow card offenses, yet amazingly he came out of the game without a single yellow card or word from the referee.

I genuinely believe that not only was Barnes out to injure our players, but the ref was also out to give a biased performance. The uproar this has caused might actually turn some referee performances in our favour. The stick Atkinson will get from this no other ref will want.

Here's to positivity!! on the last day of the season chelsea lift the title, Leicester finish strong and burnley, aston villa and qpr go down never to grace the premier league again!!

It was indeed Barnes.

When Barnes does that to a player in mid air it isn't just career threatening, it is life threatening. If you kick someone or knee someone in mid air they have no control over their body anymore and they could easily land on their neck/back and break it which could easily kill you.

The stuff from Barnes yesterday was not normal behaviour. The guy isn't right in the head and his manager should be condemning his actions, not brushing it off.

If he get's away with it there is something seriously wrong with the F.A. I don't think he should get the regular 3 match ban either. His intentions were clear yesterday with those 3 challenges, he was looking to injure our players with all of them.

Why should it take a player getting seriously injured before the F.A give out an extended ban ? surely because of the intent they can give out a longer ban than just 3 games. It would soon teach him that his actions are totally unacceptable.

Barnes is a c**t and deserves the same treatment. Horrible. Matic should have his Red card recinded but I really don't see the FA helping us out

is the fa investigating his behavior? I haven't seen/heard anything of the like & to think he didn't even get a card

Spot on Slawth. The Zouma one was actually worse than the knee he gave to Ivanovich. You could easily argue the Ivan challenge was a yellow, but the Zouma one was a red. If anything I am even angrier today than I was yesterday. Atkinson cheated yesterday as much as Ovrebo did against Barca. It stinks.

Anyone got a video of the zouma one?? Seen the others but not the zouma one.

I said earlier it's up there with Ovrebo, but then after thinking about it I thought actually Atkinson was much worse because he missed 2 good penalty shouts, 2 straight red fouls, and at least another couple of obvious yellows.

MOTD tonight and nobody talks about Vertoghen push/assault.
The fact that the commentator on the game didn't even comment on the shove when it happened shows that a shove is not considered unusual or violent. It was appalling that MotD didn't even pass comment on it, even though it highlighted the shocking inconsistency from refs from one game to the next.

You know you really f* up when even Graham ' I hate Chelsea' Poll was on our side. If Atinkosn is not being demoted this weekend, the campaign thing is just about to be proven true.

I thought the crowd was poor on the day, the crowd was a bit too friendly after the unfortunate incident on Tuesday. Maybe it was the poor reception at my house, but the loudest cheer I heard in the second half was from the visiting fans when Matic got sent off. On a day where the referee was making a mockery of us, the crowd should have, and could have let him know better.

I'm a West Ham supporter so have no favouritism in either burnley or Chelsea.

I would just like to say that I've watched the incident about 20 times now and Barnes kicks the ball and in the same movement puts his foot down. Matic's leg comes between barnes's foot and the ground where his foot would land.

That's how I see it anyway...

If that's what you see, that's what you see, but the incident needs to be put into the context of that game and others.
